Description

Today is a day we commemorate important things. May 4th is our Memorial Day, 60 years after the end of World War II. But... today is also the day we celebrate the birth of our biological scientist and photographer, Jeroen a.k.a. Enmos!

Happy birthday, Jeroen!

A special gift today for you I kept in the fridge :) It's an alpine longicorn beetle (Rosalia alpina) that rarely shows up, like here on RR (eating its way through the internet :) as a special gift for you!!! Have a nice day, Jeroen, and lots of fun!

It is amazing to think of Switzerland and WW-II memorials. It would be like America having a memorial day veteran's who served in the U.S. armed forces when Anthony Eden invaded the Suez Canal. Certainly, everyone appreciates the diplomatic efforts to avert war and the subsequent avoidance of invasion and refugee crises. I can see why one would divert to the safer entomology. Raise a glass of Pernod to the blue bug and it's photographer!!
