Description

OK, Ill be honest to you and tell you what is goin' on in my head. Maybe with your comments I can realy come to terms with this one. I've had this picture about a 100 times on my screen and I still can't make my mind up about it. I've had it printed 20X30cm and it looks great, but still I don't know. It's not about the little imperfection that you might notice. We (model and me) know that when she get's tired one eye turns a bit. That's not the problem though. It's this kind of Mona Lisa smile that keeps me puzzled. But I've surrendered to it and here it is. Can you help me? There is another one like this. So be prepared. Eddy. PS I can't say it enough. Your comments mean a lot to me. On the other hand it makes posting here more and more difficult. Can I meet the marks set by the former picture. If I find the time I'll will spill my heart here ones and let you know why it is hard to be me. Keep the comments coming though. I look forward to them. Thanks for your time!

I don't see where you can find a problem: the light is on the good side (the "biggest" with the shadow) and the framing works well. May be, to really say something, may be you can invert the position of light and shadow, because of ther hairs, but, as I'm used to put my highlights at that place, it could e just a question of taste

I love this picture! She looks like she is lost in thought, in another place.

No puzzle here...those eyes are very beautiful...and the slight indication of a smile is indeed very Mona Lisaish. Anyone who doesn't surrender to this face is truly lost.

Subtle influences can have irretrievable impact when shooting a model or portrait. If you have a personal connection to your subject, your inturpretation of the results may be distorted. This image has IMPACT, even if something seems wrong, there is something beneath the surface of the subject that is emotional. Be proud, it's a wonderful portrait.

I can see the problem, her eyes are very captivating and yes, depending on which one you think is actually looking into the camera's lens is the one drifting slightly. Apart from that, there is a certain quality you have managed to achieve. I am now comparing this image to an earlier one were one can see the eye drift. Between these two portraits, this one has better lighting and bring out her features more rounded as the earlier portrait is a little too hot on the forehead. I also like the light touching her shoulder. Excellent work and a wonderful model who knows how to make love to the camera in an elegant way. She is precious.

I would not change a thing.Bit of rest maybe after a long shoot and try again,if you think that's a problem. But for me to critique this would be wrong,as I am just learning some lighting and portraits shots myeslf.

I think it's a superb portrait. IMHO the best portraits capture the person and not an objective perfection. Her tired eye and smile are her at that point in time, and are what make this portrait, through your excellent eye and photography, most special.

I think this is an awesome portrait and she is a stunning model. Her eyes are so captivating and that smile. Yes, Mona Lisa is the perfect analogy. To me, when you put it all together, the perfect model, super pose, great framing and lighting; weel, you get a superb portrait.

Coming to this eleven years later - your portrait has longevity of appeal. In my mind conveying impressions of beauty, intelligence and wisdom from life's pain.
