Description
Things have really improved, weatherwise, around here lately. All of the magnolia trees are in full bloom (I'd love to be able to make magnolia blossoms in UF) and there is not one patch of snow left to be seen.
We had to "gather roots and berries" today. It's kinda kewl having all the necessary tubers and fruit available under one roof in a mega food store because I am not all that adept at foraging in the woods. I'm afraid of spiders and snakes for one thing... and I wouldn't know a poisonous mushroom from a (relatively) harmless magic one... but huge parking lots also have their own perils. While my husband was loading the back of the truck with groceries, I took the cart back to the "convenient" covered holding area. On the way, I managed to step on a wad of gum that had to weigh in at two pounds. By the time I got back to the truck, the gum had accumulated five pebbles, two sticks, a cigarette butt and a label from some sort of pepperoni package. It looked almost like a fractal. At the very moment I was displaying that bit of impromptu artwork to my husband, a seagull unleashed its digested lunch onto his t-shirt... just about a quarter inch from the "handy" pocket and two inches down from the "rugged, double stitched neckband". This particular seagull was at least half a mile up in the wild blue... and it was a shot in a million, to be sure. And so I was effectively upstaged... my abstract gumwork could not hold a candle to his besmirched shirtfront, because it looked just like a Mandelbrot. Sigh...
UF for the fractal (no gum in this one) and PSP for frame and sig. Thanks to all of you for your views and comments on my previous stuff... you make it all worthwhile!! Hugs!! Helen :)

Back many decades ago in the rural lands surrounding a local college town in western Massachusetts there were a bunch of us that lived in an old farmhouse that had been coverted into three apartments. One of the guys that lived downstairs thought he had a secret stash, but his dog, a golden retriever mix, had a much more sensitive nose than anyone gave him credit for. In one thoughtless moment he got into the secret stash and ate about a quarter ounce of hash. You know how dogs kind of pant and run when they are dreaming? Well he was dreaming for about three days or so. Finally he woke up, drank a couple of gallons of water and headed for his food bowl, none the worse for the experience. At least the dog was fine. Stuart, his owner, never quite recovered from the tragic loss and ended up playing in a blues band. This picture is really cool looking! Now that I look at it again it looks like there's some screens in there, the little round ones that you put into the pipes. Now I'm sure that was not your intent, I'm probably just reliving some long ago moments when nobody really cared about anything. Amazing texture work and glorious colors against the black background. The lighting and surfaces are perfect, almost pearl like in places where they seem to be glowing, waiting to be harvested for a fine necklace. Excellent work on this one, hope you had a great weekend, and how can seagulls have such great aim from that high up?

WONderful story, Helen; felt like I was there with you. Easy to laugh at in retrospect, yes? I love this wondrous play of design, colors and light..especially the tiny details and the patterned spheres. A sublime and beautiful mix and an excellent image.

Gorgeous, Helen! I love the swirly green, gold and pink bits. They set off the pearls beautifully! :)

Cooool... this really makes me think of a combination of your 'old school' PSP work, and your 'new' fractal work. It is a wonderful blend Helen... and it is so YOU. Your story made me start laughing into my hand (cuz I can't wake the kiddo up!) until I eventually faded into a mild giggling fit. You rule babe... no ifs ands or buts about it.

Wow! Awesome cool spiral, Helen! I especially like the spheres with the mesh pattern. Loved your story, too - you write VERY well!

You must sense the inspiration from the previous works that you have displayed so far--watching a talented person create--something from nothing !! and what comes across is simply thrilling to imagine. Awsome work.
