Description

This image taken in the 70s shows small fishing vessels in what was once England's largest fishing-port at the ancient town of Grimsby. I have been awaiting a call that would give me a little more information, but the person concerned may not have got my request. I do know that at its height, Grimsby had a fishing fleet of 300 vessels, each employing 15-20 men. In addition to 6,000 sea-going fishermen, more than 40,000 were employed in land-based jobs entirely dependent upon fishing. Not a masterpiece of an image, it was just taken as a record of events and I thought you might like to see it. I have many scenic slides, but it

Looks like a New York traffic jam. Fascinating status about the fishing industry. Thinking of how much it's changed, how so many lost the way of life they once knew. Cloud tan? Yeah, sure. I get mine from the tv's "Z-rays".

Wonderful record from a time of great industry and I'm sure it is quite changed now. When I visited Hong Kong in 1988, the harbor was filled with junks and other ships. I am told the harbor is totally cleared out today. Time marches forward....

Do not sell yourself short on the older images. there is charm and beauty in them, especially since things have changed in the last thirty years.
