Description

Old Lava Flow: From my last post "Pit Stop" , that area which looks like water is actually lava. The far distance and vog really changes the landscape color appearance. Here is a close up of what was thought to be water in Pit Stop. Also, in the far background, Mauna Kea looks bluish too. Looking towards Maui which is not seen in this image, it also looks bluish. Can anyone explain this? Aloha and thank you for viewing.

The play of light and shadow on the ridge at your feet, followed by the black lava field, followed by the green plain, followed by the rounded hillocks, followed by the bluegreen ridge, followed by the blue sky - (phew) all combine to create a fantastic view!

Dependent of the humidity of the air things appear bluer than they are on large distances. An UV-filter corrects a bit for that and a polarization-filter can correct a up to some proportions too. The lava-stream resembles an old moraine but here in this landscape it's lavam that's sure! Beautiful shot, Errol!
