Description

Back after a break of several months :) An this time in a completely different gallery?... Yep, this is my first post outside the Vue-gallery(!). Lost is/was an attempt at using matte painting techniques. It turned however out as being a bit more tricky than I had imagined, so I applied a stroke-filter in photoshop in the end to get rid of the largest errors. Besides I kind of like the feel it gives the whole image. (Almost) no 3D at all. The plants are Xfrog renders that were edited in photoshop. The rest is created from hundreds of various photos. The waterfall alone is made out of at least 20 photos. I tried to let the picture tell a story. I hope I succeeded, and you can get something out of it. This is my first go at this technique so please be gentle ;) I hope you like it. Best Regards, Thomas

What an awesome sense of location and mood! And you're right--it definitely looks like there's a story going on here. The only suggestion I could make to enhance it would be to make the foreground foliage look a bit more dripping wet. In all respects, though, this is a marvelous image.

Fantastic composition. If you wouldn't have said anything I would have thought it was a Vue render with some Photoshop filter to make it look like a painting. Excellent atmosphere.

This... is... amazing.... Excellent photographic combinations. It has almost a surrealistic, 3D graphic feel to it. V

What a dramatic image that allows the imagination full reign in telling a story. This is that magic ink-blot (although it's a fantastic image in its own right) that spawns a novel. Excellent -- realized in a spectacular manner, and skillfully executed.

Well that's an amazing amount of work you put into this wonderful picture - it paid off! 20 photos for the waterfall? That must have taken so much patience and you must have had a real vision for what you wanted to achieve. Excellent - and somehow I doubt the parachutist will make it unfortunately... V

You've created a very exciting image - that waterfall is amazing and I like how it is layered in the background - and your 'jumper' adds to the mystery and the majesty, looking so tiny beside that massive force of nature. Very well done. :O) CC

No gentleness needed. You did an excellent job putting all the elements together to make a very striking final work. Excellent artwork. The composition, contrast and color scheme all work perfectly together to create the emotion of being lost in a beautiful, but hostile place. Well done.
