Description
Some of you expressed an interest in seeing a collage of images featuring yesterday's Moorhen, but it will have to wait until I have time to get it together. Instead I have for you what is a common sight in South Florida, a Muscovy duck. This female is relaxing next to a natural lake. You can identify the females by their slighter build and normally white heads. They also have fewer of the unnattractive red bumps than their male counterparts.
I don't normally photograph these creatures as they are invaders of the natural Florida ecosystem and generally all-round pests. But this one was pretty in her shady little spot by the water, so I had to take the photo. =o]
Read below for more interesting information about them.

She's gorgeous! and i love her feathers! are they brown, green and black? havin' a hard time seein'! :( Can't believe she's a pest! don't think i'd like them around either from the information you so kindly gave us. nope...too much bird poop not a good thing! sounds like their sex life is not so hot either. :( anyway, sorry...you really did a marvelous job! lighting is fabulous...shows the texture of her feathers and that white looks right on the money! Fantastic portrait of Mrs. Pest!
