Description

This is the first time I am posting something up here. It is still a WIP, but what the heck? Please, if you are criticizing, make it constructive. As this is my first post, I know it isn't near perfect, but I would like to improve it. Thanks. All Poser with no postwork. P6 Judy (Update: Sorry, actually Jessi), and Kozaburo (Update (clarification): Long Hair Evolution, comes with P6) hair. All coloring done in the material room, face shaped in face room (image not applied, just shape, then dial spinning.) I used ideas from tutorials for the skin (I think one was by face_off, but can't remember now.) Default lighting [Update: Taking advice from karen1573, I went to Runtime DNA and got some soft lighting to improve this image.] I used the high res ball prop inside the nose to simulate shadows in the nostrils, to fight the "glow."

Hi. Looks like it's on it's way. It looks like you're using the fastscatter node here, which is good, but you may want to reduce the intensity of that orange glow it produces by darkening the alt diffuse color, or perhaps adjusting your lights. Nothing wrong with that if it's the look you want... but if you're going for more actual skin tones, then the orange will need some management. I love the face morph! As for the "glowing nostrils", there's really no need for props to get rid of it in P6. Ambient Occlusion works great for this, and you can use it as a material node. Good luck, it's coming along!

Hey maxxx, thanks for the feedback! The orange glow wasn't apparent in Poser. I have to look into that. As far as the lights, I just took the one I thought made the nicest shadows and went with that. I have never really played with lights before, and I took advice from karen on going past the defaults. And yes, I do want a more realistic look. As for the face morph, thanks! I was really happy with it. I started out with a front face image, then tweaked and tweaked and tweaked till I got it to a point I was happy with. How would I use AO for the nose? I have yet to use AO, and I am not sure I would even know what to do with it. I started using Poser with Pro Pack, and got 5, then 6 both around their release times, but I am still a long way from understanding a lot of it! Thanks so much for the comments, I truly appreciate it!

I think the eyes have a very "glassy" look, which makes the character a bit artificial, though the skin tends to make me think you wanted to make a realistic picture. Being your first post, it's really a good image. Congrats...

Very good point Merlin. The glassiness wasn't as bad in the first render, but when I changed the lighting, it seems like they reflect way too much off of the eyes. If anyone has any advice, I am all ears. I figure I will see if some Mat Room magic will fix this.

Yes, she is a little orange for realistic, but maybe she's jsut standing in front of an orange light? She looks very pretty. I'm not yet very good with 3D, but I do love the realistic renders I see. You'll get there, just keep working at it. :)
