Description

We were aboard the cargo ship for over a week, it was always cold, Mom told us we were going to a new home, she said that Earth had got too sick to live on anymore and we had to go away. Josh woke me up this morning and dragged me to the window, another cargo ship carrying refugees from earth was flying alongside us, heading towards the planet. It was huge, I don't know how many people it held, but it was much bigger than the Van Braun which was the name of our ship. Josh was very excited, he had been too upset at leaving his fish behind when we were flying out, but now he was enjoying being in the spaceship. The planet Lave was where we were landing, Mom said it was mostly rock and that the humans lived underground in big cities, she said they mined for metals and that there would be lots of work for her so we wouldn't run out of money. She seemed sad, like she didn't want to go here, I guess she was upset about leaving home, I guess... --- A follow-up to Evacuation, also in the Gallery, the narrative from the girl's point of view this time.
