Description

This is Anton's new figure - ApolloMaximus. There is lots of new tech in this figure that is sure to have people smiling. You can check other other renders of Apollo at http://www.runtimedna.com/download.ez?download_section_id=77. This render also uses a new system of IBL lighting. I've put together a tutorial on it, which is being tested at the moment - to make sure it hangs together. But in summary, it uses infinite lights (derived from an IBL image), together with an IBL light (sourced by the same image). But the tick is, there is a simple node system which modifies the image used by the IBL light to remove the light that will be coming from the infinite lights! So you end up with a lighting rig that very accurately represents the lighting from the IBL image. You also get great specular lighting, plus you can use both traditional shadows, or AO (this render uses both). Furthermore, the lights and IBL image are tweaked so the scene is reversed, meaning you can use the IBL image is the background image - as down in this render. Texturemaps are Outoftouch's new Keith textures for ApolloMaximus. IBL image was the interiorLightFromSide lightprobe that comes with P6. Skin shader was a Realism Kit I've put togheter for Apollo. DOF was done using P6 DOF functionality. No postwork.

Looks very realistic, Paul. I love the new lighting system for close-ups, but it could be problematic for distant shots, where the character's feet on the ground are visible (if you use standard shadows), due to the multi-directional light sources causing a "fan" effect of shadows on the ground. However, if you just use AO, then it's not a problem. Anyway, this image is great... the model looks superb. The only thing is the eyes seem just a bit too tiny, and the ears not so detailed. I'm sure that's easily fixed, however, with a few turns of the morph dials! :-) I love the soft shadowing in this image, texture is great, and specular looks spot-on too. Just an awesome image! Love it.

Very realistic render, the lightsystem sounds great! The use of DOF makes this render very believable. ~Uwe

I'm getting the "halo" effect on my IBL images. Head scratcher. Well now that you have put a skin on everyone, how about a new figure? Take ya a few weeks....lol
