Description

'Self Portrait with Shattered Mirror' Duo-tone ~ May 22, 2005 Epilogue The series 'Family Secrets' has come to a close with 'Lost and Found', but before I continue a new sequence, a few closing words. I cannot thank you all enough, those who have left comments, sent eMails or Instant Messages, but I wish to also acknowledge the silent ones. Those who have looked and left without a word. I include you too. This series 'Family Secrets' is not an easy subject to comment upon, especially if one has experienced any kind of abuse, regardless as a child or an adult. The only way we can eradicate this evil, is to first say to ourselves 'we are not at fault'. All too often we think we're to blame for these conditions, but it is not so. Remember, no love is worth the pain and abuse, there is help and you must seek it. 'Self Portrait with Shattered Mirror' came about by chance. I returned to the empty houses in Hercules and at the former employee club house decided to photograph the hallway using the mirror in he ladies room. As I set up the shot, I looked into the mirror and decided to photograph myself instead. I set the self-timer and did my best to hold the 6 seconds at f-8 at ISO 100. The gallery camera2 has been launched with its first colour photograph Blistering Steel, while galleries 'Egmont' and 'CameraObscura' now take a little rest. Thank you very much for the comments on 'Lost and Found' the tenth in this series 'Family Secrets'. Technical Information: CAMERA: Sony DSC-V1, Aperature priority setting to f-8, ISO100, EV -.07, Tripod LIGHT: Available light PHOTOSHOP NOTES: Adjustment in Auto Contrast, Auto Levels, and conversion to B&W in Channel Mixer/RGB mode. Duo-tone settings have curve alterations and the secondary colour is R151/G132/B115. Final adjustment in brightness/contrast. Thank you for your visit Vielen dank f

One of the most impressive portraits I have ever seen and I'm always on the search for the perfect shot, most I have found in your gallery. I also want to thank you again for your great support and help, but most for your friendly words, they really helped me a lot to get over the problems we have talked about. Take care and keep on capturing all the impressive details you are able to find. Kindest regards, J

Difficult to see a so sharp shattered portrait. Disturbing but great . Modest and exhibitionist. Great courage.

Oh wow. What a wonderful idea. Executed perfectly. This is a very strong image. I just hope the shattered mirror does not stand for anything but mere artistic photography.

nice to see it here again! the creativity and the idea is top! no boring portrait here, but a composition of many parts of your character courses, ending in a crescendo of yourself! ;o)))

A powerful image for a powerful and touching series. This Shattered Mirror is perfect. I think that you can be proud of you, of what you are and of what you make. Despite everything the evil which one could make you. In spite of your suffering, you have win, and you are the strongest. I wish you so much happiness, serenity and Love. Hugs. Nathalie
