Description

Another night shot from last night this time one of the more unusual buildings in big town Hilo. This building housed a collection agency before they went out of business...cropped off to the right is our local Ben Franklin. Thought this looked better in color than in B&W. Canon 10D F-stop 11 Exposure 30 sec. 200 ISO Hope everyone had a great holiday...short week coming....Aloha to All!

A truly exceptional night photo, and the color is out of this world! It has a wonderful surrealistic look. Are those shadows of palm leaves across the front?

Yes smozeson...because of the long exposure the leaves of the palm trees growing in the parking lot were shadowed on the building...good eye!

I love the fact that more people are getting into night time photography since Eric started doing his little thing in a very big way. I like the colours in this one and your right, in B&W it would not have worked, especially because of the distracting palm shadows on the front of the building. In colour they just fade. At first, in thumbnail form, I thought thjiswas the San Rafael bus station, here in California, since the building has many similarites. My only other observatoin is a very, and I mean very minor point. I would have waited for two to three more minutes so that the hands of the clock would not overlap. Have a great short week.

Wowowowow! The color was certainly the way to go with those nice coral hues on the building's face. The shadows of the palms are an excellent subtle detail. Well done again!

Hey Punaguy, this one has some flavor of the 'Nighthawks' painting. At least I hink it was called that, by a very well known artist...Hopper?

What a gorgeously clear shot! And you're absolutely right, this shot definitely looks better in color than in B&W. It wouldn't have had the same effect.
