Hello all. I've been on Rendo since April 2004. Since then, I've come a long way and I'm still learning. I've done artwork for YourMoveGames, Inc for their Battleground: Fantasy Warfare card game, EPIC tcg and Duel Of Ages II. I'm married with two great kids, Nick and Sam.
I've met a lot of great people here on this site and they have all been kind and generous. I'm looking forward to growing and spending a lot more time here. I thank you all for visiting and welcome any and all visitors.

Sorry, Pal! I don't know Bryce at all so I can't offer up any advice. :( I do love the looks of this and think that you are off to a great start!

Hard crits... right... here goes... to start with the lighting is great, I love blues. The water edge around his body and against the walls isn't rough enough, his face could be better lit, the water is repetitious (did I spell that right?), and I don't care about all that, 'cause it's a great image... Cheers my friend! (V)

Sorry I deleted my comment after I saw that it is your first Bryce work! Wonderful, scary and cool Troll scene! I like the blue color setting! If I may tell you I would work some more what the water is concerned! At the moment it looks too regular! Excellent atmosphere! Bravo!!!

Boy, I wish I would just open it and have a look. Good for you learning the program and this is a wonderful image..........

For a first in Bryce it looks damn good to me. But then I am still browsing the book on it so I can figure out how to do the water part of the scene for other pics I have in mind. The question I have is did you render all of this in Bryce or was this composited? Have to agree with the statement about the water where it meets the cave walls it is flat-lined at that point.

Hey!! Well, I don't have Bryce 5.5-it won't work on my new OS, so I'm waiting for them to make a patch. I don't recognize this water material from Bryce 5, though!!! As for the ripples, you can make a bump in Photoshop with the "zig zag" filter (under distort) that looks like ripples, and then apply it in the materials lab. Or, you apply it to a terrain and then asign the terrain a water material. It takes a while to get the sizing right, though!!! I think you really did a fantastic job on the lighting!!! EXCELLENT!!! I'm dying to get back to using Bryce!!

Looking pretty good!! I am doing the same thing with Vue 5. It never hurts to learn new software. I have never used Bryce, but ask the masters like Prog and Primaltruck. They seem to really work well with both Poser and Bryce together. The thing I spot right away is that the water looks to uniform. It is not varied enough. Other than that, keep working with the program and you are sure to get better.

I found "inside lighting" quite difficult in Vue so you are already leaps and bounds ahead of me, Well done!

Don't know Bryce, so can't really help. But I love the tone of the lighting and the whole mood of the scene. The cave setting is awesome. Well done and best of luck (and lots of fun, too) with Bryce!!

I only use Bryce now and then and know very little tricks with it LOL This is fantastic in my opinion S the big guys expression kinda reminds me of Eeyore when he gets in these kinda situations lol - sorry you're in a slump - couldnt prove it by me by this image S - I'd just relax and have fun with it - the inspiration comes better when you dont force it S

http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Haven/2470/ripples.htm This is a link on animating ripples, but I used a much simpler tut that I can't find anymore. If I recall I had used a basic sphere, flattened and applied a texture? Geeze I'd have to dig up the br5 file. I can't really remember how? If you want to, you can IM me and I'll zip up the br5 and send it to ya'. (after I find it...) At any rate it looks to me like your moving along pretty good! Nicely done!!

I'm just going to learn along with you :D I think you're doing an incredible job and that troll actually looks cute. Amazing artwork!

OK so here I am behind and running late as ever LOL...Now what I wanna know is where is this trolls lusterous hair wink LOL Personally Bryce is like another planet to me but I do know tht I have seen some tuts on ripples I belive in the tut section on here as well as DAZ I belive...if you do a search for Water in Bryce or Waterfalls even on google...you should turn up tuts that you can adapt to get the effect you want. I must say you are doing a fab job though...better then I did in all the times I have tried to use Bryce LOL :O) EXCELLENT JOB!! HUGS!! :O)

If this was my work I would change the water mat,so the ripples dont just hit the sides with out any effect.Maybe use a terrian around the body and apply a water mat to it so its not so flat arounf where his body meets the water.I love the lighting and the cave ~justy the water can be improved imo!Hope were still friends lol!Bye cal

Rich, I really don't see a slump at all, I see someone who is expanding their horizons. The setting and atmosphere is great, I love the hues and lighting of this! I see you posted another version, so I'll check that out. Don't be discouraged at discovering new platforms, I was like that with Bryce in every version, and now I face Vue Infinite - another padk of wild demons. Excellent work on this piece, keep plugging away at this because you'll be a master in no time. Excellent work!

Can't help ys. I just got Bryce myself. But I like where this picture is going.

You got a very good start on this and the second take with the water ripples is excellent. :o) CC

Dear Rich, I have Bryce, but don't know much about it - so I can't be very much help. I'm mostly used it to generate terrain geometry for import to Poser. I really like the "big guy" and his mood. He seems a little down, too. And I hope that you get to feeling more up yourself!! I always think it's fun to start exploring a new porgram - it sparks new ideas. Excellent work!! Love, Meredith
