Description

In October of 2004, we went to Virginia, a state in the USA full of history. This location is Appomattox, the place where the first surrender of the South in the great Civil War took place. Gen. Grant of the Federal(Northern) forces accepted the surrender of Gen. Lee and the Army of Northern Virginia. A surrender or two later the war was over and the bloodiest war in number of American lives was done. Appomottox has been preserved fairly well. This is an historically valued site. The image shows a road along which soldiers moved on that day, April 9, 1865 Image taken with the old carry cam, a reliable Minolta DiImage f100(old but does a pretty good job.) f/8.0, ISO100, 1/350 sec, 35mm at 35mm film equivalent focal length. Post work includes cropping. All the rest is as from the camera.

Awe, love that one!!! Such a beautiful place to walk your doggie or something. Beautiful weather as well. The thing that makes this what it is to me, is those few trees with the reddish autumn-look to them. Really peaceful photo! Have a wonderful weekend #:O)
