Description

I got itchy to go out night shooting again. This time I headed for our local boat docks on the Wailoa River. This was taken from one of the local fish auction markets that was closed a few years ago. In the distance is the bridge that spans the river. Boats come and go under this bridge to and from the ocean. Since the closure of the fish market which was a source of livelihood for many fisherman, the fish industry has suffered. Many fisherman were forced to sell their catch on the side of the road to make ends meet. Just recently the powers that be, passed a law prohibiting the sale of fish in this manner. We may have some of the best fishing in the world but trying to sell your catch can be very frustrating for our local fisherman. Thanks for having a peek and hope everyone is enjoying the weekend...Aloha to All~

Another excellent night shot! I particularly like the reflections of light off the surface of the water. Too bad about the fisherman, though! Living inland here, we'd love to have some of that freshly caught salt-water fish :)

yes yes yes, everthing in this shot is totally superb. Yes, shame about the fishing, a declining industry in lots of places now, not good. Lighting and composition are excellent :)

Thank for the info. This and tomorrow images are brilliant. I love the inky blacks and the total lack of people. It is as if you found a place that totally shuts down at night. :)

Love the night shot...seems like the only recourse for the fishermen is to pool their money and open their own fish market.
