Description

This was my submission to the Renderosity May Sunset Themed Challenge. I really like the end result but I didn't actually receive a single vote :( I'm not bitter, but I'd love to hear your comments on how to improve it. 319309 quadrilaterals Render Time: 4:35:37 Terrain: SilentStream by Myth_de Atmosphere: Based on Fallout by Gabrielle Libby (Padawancats at Ashundar) from the Community Atmopshere Pack #1

nice colours, Sky clouds could be less invasive imho, could try to see how the image works with "cloud cast shadow" active. stiil Great work!

The sunset challenge was a difficult one to get any votes in, since there where so many excellent entries...Your image has a wonderful view and great colours, but IMO the terrain is a bit too dark..increase shadow lightness maybe, but still its a good image

terragen groups member# great job with the sky and atmos but cant see much detail in the terrain - perhaps a lower POV and less shadow darkness would improve this - superza won the competition and i dont think he would rate your image that far away from his - i imagine he used full Atmos settings - did you? or do you do what i do on my slow PC - leave the Atmos and cloud setting quite low down??? great job - i dont think i got any votes also!!!

Your rays are very beautiful! I agree with the comments of doneydonydone about shadow lightness. I believe your terrain needs just a little lightening. Keep pushin' those pixels!

Your atmosphere is super!!!! Your terrain is great too, It makes a great river!!! I would change just a bit of the roughness of water! You was between my ten renders I first choose to vote and it was very difficult to choose only three!!! By the way I didn't get any vote too!!! I think it was a good competition!

I like this a lot, but here are my thoughts. The clouds are a bit grainy, the 3-D effect and high persistence setting causes this. The reflection is a bit too much on the water. The image could use sharpening or a bigger render or both. I like the dark shadows and minimal surfaces of the terrain, but maybe a slightly lower pov would set the sky among the hills and avoid the flat horizon for some more interesting contrast. Just my 2 cents, cause this is really lovely overall.

I agree with stbc's comments. I would also suggest you work on the water itself a little. The waves are far too choppy and regular for that type of waterscape. I would suggest decreasing the roughness (10 at most), increasing wave size a bit, and try increasing the "distort by terrain" setting as well. Overall, though, nice lighting and colors. Keep working!
