Description

This is my preliminary entry for the June Challenge on the TrekBBS art forum; the challenge is to create an image or model based upon the concept of "Steam Trek," a 'steampunk' interpretation of Star Trek.

The "televox" is a Victorian-style communicator, the same approx. size as a pocket watch, and would be similarly carried in a vest pocket of the officer's uniform, attached with a chain; the flip-open cover/antenna is not yet done.

Nice, wouldnt they have rotating dials for the numbers rather than pixels though?

My thought was that each of those "pixels" is actually a small tab that is black on one side, fluorescent on the other, and they flip one way or the other to create the digits, kind of the way the original "digital" clocks worked. Mechanically, it would be incredibly complex at such a small scale, but in a way, that's kind of what steampunk is about. :-)
