Description

Happy birthday, Liesje a.k.a. Zotkonijn! You like flowers and since I'm posting Austrian shots I decided to have a short intermezzo in Lessons learned and dedicate this columbine (akelei in Dutch, Aquilegia vulgaris) to you! Together with the fresh green needles of the spruce-fir it made me think of you in the spring of your life. And now it's time for you to enjoy your vacation after passing your examinations so well.

Tomorrow I intend to continue my Austrian lessons (my school never ends... :)

What a truly enchanting capture this is! We have these flowers in our garden too (we nickname them granny bonnets!) and I love them. It's the sort of setting where fairies could be found if we believed........

Happy birthday, Liesje! Columbines are also Colorado's state flower. They're hard to find, but some of our neighbors have some that are pale blue and cream colored. I've never seen them in this purple shade :)
