Everywhere people with camera's find their way in this world to make their shots. I like the art of taking realistic pictures, because it provides a way to show how I experience this world. It is a way for other people to look through my eyes.Nature ... exists primarily for her face, her look, her appeals to the heart and the imaginationGeorge MacDonaldJan-Carel Vierbergen
Picture courtesy of Ruut WegmanBIOIt is all in the family: love for hiking in the nature. Since my childhood I'm used to walk with father, brothers, cousins, etc., and take pictures (Minolta X-700 with 28-70 mm and 100-300 mm zoom) of what I see. I grew up in Ede (The Netherlands), studied Electrical Engineering in Eindhoven and I am working now as Coordinator e-learning at the Christelijke Hogeschool Ede (http://www.che.nl) where I implement digital assessments for students and assist students in DTP and creating websites.
Since I know little about photographing as well as computer science it was not difficult to find ways for putting images on the web. The only thing to look for now is to find ways for showing the slides in a convenient way. I tried already something at http://www.che.nl/users/jcv (Dutch only, click at Dia's van de natuur in Nederland en de Alpen), but this platform provides good means to share my pictures with others.
I hope you enjoy this!

I think the images are a raw scanned slide top and a Photoshop enhancement of that slide? It couldn't be an enhancement of a scanned slide top and a digital camera image bottom since the rocks and ground cover would be little changed but the flowers and the bird would be in only one. Now you know why I sublimate rather than react when I am puzzled. Pretty!!

Yep, postwork can sometimes be very neccessary. And you just showed the improvement that can be done. Excellent work! Have a great one. Class will be same time tomorrow right? #:O)

I agree, it's high time to turn to digital. Especially when considering the quality they have now and the cheap price you can find them. (except if you wanna have a reflex but does it really worth? Cf Papguru comments on his lessons for dragon chasing!) BUT, do not think that having a digital camera will make you forget the postwork! We all have to enhance the shots we take, at least adjusting the levels...

I'm kind of lucky to have started my likes to photography in today's digital camera world. But those pictures before this new technology came can be rejuvenated back to life but with much consuming time. Lucky for Post Work. Yes, plan carefully to enhance the quality of your shots. Excellent series. Aloha

Perfectly shown the difference what one can achieve by postwork! Another advantage... you will not have to spend lots of money in films wink

A great lesson to be learned here! Although I love digital, nothing compares to the old school camera as far as color goes...Well done! Aloha!

What a difference!!!!! Lots of work indeed!!!!! You have so much patience!!!!! For me...digital is the only way to go. Keep in mind though, if you take a lot of pics like i do, you're gonna need a LOT of memory and MANY hard-drives!!!!! oh man....the money it saves in film...uh, believe me, you more than spend that in maintaining your computer and buying more and more memory and harddrives!!! But ya know what...it's worth EVERY cent!!!! i LOVE digital!!! thanks for showing, Jan-Carel!!!
