Description

I'd like to thank everyone for their great comments on yesterday's They Have Arrived. I thought I would close out the week with another photo I took that evening, this time looking the other way. I would love it if I lived out in the middle of nowhere so that I wouldn't have to content with neighbor's roofs, but in this case I think they add something to the composition. I'm not sure what was causing the clouds to be lit up with so many varied colors, but I supposed it was related to the storms, moisture in the air, index of refraction, blah, blah, blah. Or maybe it was the "visitors" putting on a show for me. In any case, I obligingly tried to capture the moment. Looking back, I wish I had tried to take a sky panorama and stitched it all together because everywhere you looked there was something to see. Oh well, I guess I must wait for their next visit. ;] Olympus C8080 & PhotoshopCS ------ Well I think we've sorted all that out now. If you'd like to know, I can tell you that in your Universe you move freely in three dimensions that you call space. You move in a straight line in a fourth, which you call time, and stay rooted to one place in a fifth, which is the first fundamental of probability. After that it gets a bit complicated, and there's all sorts of stuff going on in dimensions 13 to 22 that you really wouldn't want to know about. All you really need to know for the moment is that the Universe is a lot more complicated then you might think. - Douglas Adams, "Mostly Harmless"

By the way, the building on the right kinda reminds me of Bart Simpson's profile. ;o]

Excellent capture of a beautiful event. I can sympathize with you. I have a great western view out of my fourth floor lab, unfortunately dirty streaks on the sealed window is making it harder and harder to take photos.

I'd preferred the images without roofs, but they definitely add a clear contrast/tension between their straight lines and the clouds' structure..

I agree about the roofs. They really add something to the composition. I disagree with Douglas Adams, time and probabilities have nothing to see with spatial dimensions. I agree with the existence of a universe based on n spatial dimensions, whatever this n can be. An hypercube or tessaract is the mathematical illustration of this concept. But a non-spatial dimension is a non-sense. Great shot!

Oh my oh my!!! That sky is a real stunner!!! I'm not sure about the roofs here but it's just me and it doesn't matter anyway cos the eyes are naturally attracted to these awesome colors on the middle! Superb!

Beautiful colors in those clouds. I would have preferred a little less real estate, but that's a matter of personal preference. Can't wait to get hold of one of those improbability engines :)

looks like the runway (with the roofs) is clear for the upcoming arival, beautiful captured color... out in the middle of nowhere... we have hills & trees that tend to block most of the sunset, sigh :]
