Description
Scene: III Act: I
..."So be it." the Red Knight whispered, still gripping the blade of the longsword held between them. "Swift death to thy enemies, wrought by the Hand of Vengeance."
The Red Knight smiled down upon Besai, who trembled now not from fear, but the thrill of expectation. He could not meet the eyes of his new master any longer, so he lowered them in submission. The knights eyes had seemed to glow for a second, but were once again wreathed in shadow. Besai wondered, had he imagined it?
The knight released the sword, the weight of the thing was incredible. How was Besai to swing such a weapon? He could barely keep it upright.
"Master?"
The blade started to list to one side, and Besai strained with all his might just to bring it back. Too much. It angled down, falling towards his head, threatening to split his very skull.
"Master!!" he screamed as he jerked his head out of the blades downward path. His arms ached from the effort of trying to subdue the relentless steel.
The knight looked on in amusement as the boy careened back and forth with the blade, nearly chopping his own head, and finally bringing it down into the ground. Hard. Barely jerking his toes out of the way in time.
"That dulls them considerably." he stated.
"Master, forgive me, I.... I can't do it." the boy pleaded over his shoulder as he attempted to free the blade from the depths of the soil.
"I'm not strong enough."
His master nodded his head in acquiesce.
"It is not the strength of thy flesh I seek..."
Stay tuned. More to come.....
