Everywhere people with camera's find their way in this world to make their shots. I like the art of taking realistic pictures, because it provides a way to show how I experience this world. It is a way for other people to look through my eyes.Nature ... exists primarily for her face, her look, her appeals to the heart and the imaginationGeorge MacDonaldJan-Carel Vierbergen
Picture courtesy of Ruut WegmanBIOIt is all in the family: love for hiking in the nature. Since my childhood I'm used to walk with father, brothers, cousins, etc., and take pictures (Minolta X-700 with 28-70 mm and 100-300 mm zoom) of what I see. I grew up in Ede (The Netherlands), studied Electrical Engineering in Eindhoven and I am working now as Coordinator e-learning at the Christelijke Hogeschool Ede (http://www.che.nl) where I implement digital assessments for students and assist students in DTP and creating websites.
Since I know little about photographing as well as computer science it was not difficult to find ways for putting images on the web. The only thing to look for now is to find ways for showing the slides in a convenient way. I tried already something at http://www.che.nl/users/jcv (Dutch only, click at Dia's van de natuur in Nederland en de Alpen), but this platform provides good means to share my pictures with others.
I hope you enjoy this!

Lessoned learned..sometimes it's a hard lesson, when you think you got something brilliant only to find your DOF is all wrong for the shot...Thanks, will keep this one in mind always! Aloha~

You are really doing a great job with these lessons, Jan-Carel... It all seems known principles but it's good to revisit them again... I learned at lot about DOF using the bracketing function of my D70 (Nikon)... And finally, keep a place for art and creativity : as spselfr, I like the blurred top... like if the flower was fading in the background ! Thank you very much and have a great week-end ! :~)

So, these wild orchids have had a too shallow DOF due to a too wide operture, due to a too short shutter-time? Is that right?

beautifulluly done love the color!

I love the blurr efect and how it blends into the sharp part of the capture. Excellent work!

I love the color in these little beauties Jan-Carl...valuable lessons learned with DOF...constantly used the DOF preview button on my SLR camera! With the shallow depth of field shown above, the "circles of confusion" makes for a lovely background with the blue! []/;^)
