Description

This is a work in progress. The woman was rendered in Poser, everything else was created in Photoshop. I'm happy with everything but the way the raindrops came out. Anyone have any advice on how to make them more realistic?

I can't come with any advices for the raindrop to look better, I think they look extremely great! A really wonderful picture. Her expression is so excellent, and the whole scene looks so realistic :)

A suggestion: if the raindrops are supposed to be falling, then each one should have a blurred trail (unless you are intending to give the impression of extremely fast film). If the drops are on the window, then they should be running down leaving a trail.

This is an excellent render. If you get those raindrops down (please I have no idea) it would look very realistic. Really a great piece.

I tried this effect myself and I don't get what I wanted so I stop. For relief I have been using bump effect and it was not so bad. What I like in your image is glass reflection with a sort of vapour near hands and face (very realistic). Disposition of drops is maybe to regular. Anyway Great work and wonderful image.

Excellent work so far. A couple of suggestions for the raindrops, which IMO already look pretty good: 1) They seem to be layed out in vertical stripes, more random would be better, and 2) the smaller drops would be rounder since the surface tension would keep them from stretching, i.e. only the larger ones would distort into ovals or teardrops. But all in all, excellent work.

i think it looks awesome. the only thing i could suggest is make the raindrops different shapes, like blobby ones, and fat ones and thin ones, etc? more random.

Dang I am slow, when I first looked at this I did not understand the color on your models left hand, now I see it is the refected motel sign light. Brilliant work, even if I was a bit slow to "see"! Concept, execution, face pose, lighting, rain effect all combined by a master to make a very effective render!

danamongden has a good point.. about the layout of the raindrops ie the vertical stripe.. pattern they seem to follow also if this was a photo it apears to be taken from a close distance and not with a zoom lense. Perhaps adding the effect of some water running down the glass would add to the effect you are shooting for.. just an idea. If your shooting for the zoom lense with an overhang overhead then it would be appropriate to add some depth to the rain by making the larger droplets to appear out of focus.. Also a veriance in the shape of larger droplets would break up the vertical lines that they seem to follow. Love the picture exelent use of lighting and reflection didn't notice the shadows cast by the rain drops at first : 0 Keep up the great work hope this helps.
