Description

cathedral three / switch location: Regensburg, Germany well - due to some ideas and suggestions about my last posting cathedral three *lookingindirectionEgmont :D* i wanted to add this posting here - a kind of comparison of two shots i took from the same place simply went down a bit for the second shot... would be great to have your opinions which one works better... or further ideas about it... sorry - a big posting - but i guess it needs to be like that to really be able to compare - thanks a lot! the next in the serie of pics taken with my wide angle objective (17-35mm) all will be architecture shots - or details of buildings okay - i admit - sometimes there may be strange views... but well :)) i hope you enjoy :) the other shots: building T O W E R cathedral one cube one cathedral three cathedral three/switch house one cathedral four *** previous posting: yellow thanks for stopping by and watching :) and of course - critics, thoughts, whatever are welcome - the more useful the better... ;) so don't hesitate to point out things which could be done better... thank you! -christian picture taken with a Canon EOS 50e / 17-35mm Fuji 200 scanned negatives and postwork/framing in Xara X1/PSP9

You know I do like both of them... :-) The right one seems to be a kind of stairway to heaven or something that way. Its easier to dip into this image, really to fall in there... The left one looks more architectural, more "standing", even I could say fixed... In the direct comparison its really amazing what a little change on POV can create... fascinating! I cannot say which one I like more ore most... they are too different in my eyes in this way. Different moods... And everyone will have his own opinion which one he/she likes more or most. I love it... uda :-) dzk fmad hugesthugs Excellent job!!! vote

NUMBER TWO WORK'S FOR ME, THE ANGLE'S DRAW YOUR EYE UP THE PHOTO GIVING YOU THE IDEA IT IS A LARGE BUILDING. WHICH WE ALL KNOW CATHERADEL'S ARE LARGE BUILDING'S.

I agree, Nunber two is my favorite...it is a much more open view...if that makes sense to you. However they are both beautiful Christian!!

Your putting me on the spot here Christian. Well I guess I deserve it after opening my big mouth. The second version is certainly more dramatic and brings into contrast the perspective of the building. We do lose the platform that I like in the first image as it shoots right at you at eye level. That is something that draws me to the first photograph. Both images are very different in the way they feel. On the second one, I like the fact that we see all the steps and the part where steps, cobblestone and the foundation all meet. That is what was missing in the first one. So which one would I choose over the other? The first image I felt needed the meeting of the steps, cobblestone and foundation which was cut off. The first one has something I like very, very much and that is you can see to surface of the platform that is level with the upper step. The second one has lost that very upper surface of the platform, but has gained the perspectives drama. Bottom line - the second one is stronger! Yet let me offer a challenge for you. Is it possible to get the upper surface as you have it in number 1, while also getting the perspective in 2? If your in the area again, let me know if I am crazy or just pushing the 'creative envelope' so to speak. Have a great day my friend and thank you for going the extra mile on tis one.

without reading the other comments the 1st strikes me as being more solidly planted on the page while the 2nd is soaring off the top in a more dramatic way... now it would depend what you want... compositionally the 1st is classic, the 2nd is taking a chance & a bit unsettling... :]
