Description

This shot of the fiberglass canoes was taken before the race begun. I included this shot as these canoes made up about half of the canoes in the race that day. The weigh less than the Koa canoes, which doesn't seem fair, but I'm not sure their as fast in the water as the Koa canoes. As you can see Hilo Bay is calm with light winds and perfect for the races. Such beautiful blue water against the black sand! The fiberglass canoes might be faster, but they don't have as much character as those made from Koa wood :)
