Description

Taken at Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda, this is a photo of an old volcanic crater filled with trees against the background of the Rwenzori Mountains. Taken with a Canon K2 with Kodak ISO 400 and a Quantaray 28mm-90mm. Some minor touch ups were done on the computer to correct contrast issues created by the processor and make the image more true to real life. The image probably could have been improved if a) I had had some slower speed film (Using 400 for the wildlife), b) I had had a tripod with me, and c) I wasn't trying to take the picture from a moving vehicle. Anyways, hope all enjoy!

The granularity shows it was a fast film - imho I would have downsized the number of pixels a bit, details will remain visible enough! Quite a spectaculair location, I thought it could be dangerous there by CO2 collecting in the crater.... Impressive work, love the horizontal lines in the tops of the trees!

Yeah, I went ahead and downsized it. I was leaving the house when I initially posted it, so I just left it as it was. The region is very interesting. The crater pictured is just one in a cluster of craters all put close together. In some cases, there is only a narrow ridge between two craters. This picture was taken from a hill that sat in between three of them. I had the lens in its upper ranges to get this view that looks more like I'm in the crater. I don't know about CO2 being a problem, but many of these craters have collected water in the bottom and are actually swamps. This one was not one of those, but the crater to the immediate right of the point of view has no trees, only a flat green that is really just the top of the swamp.
