Hi, my name is Karen and I live on Cape Cod in Massachusetts… hence kccmass. I live here with my wonderful husband of over 28 years and we have two great kids. I am sure that I would not be here if not for the love and care I receive from them. I have not been a very healthy person but in 1983 while pregnant with my second son I collapsed… later we found out that I have Syringomyelia. It’s a progressive, incurable disorder of the spinal cord. Which means that I have a cyst in my spinal cord causing a blockage of spinal fluid. The cyst was decompressed and my doctor made a shunt from one part of my cord to the other bypassing the obstruction. But the damage that was done while I waited for my surgery has left me in constant pain and with limited use of my arms and legs. In my 40’s I started fooling around with a computer and found my love of graphics… any kind. I started making my own graphics and then tried animations. On a bet I made my first web page and there was no stopping me… I loved it. I played around with PhotoShop for a few years but my real love for the computer came as a gift to me from one of my son’s friends…he gave me Bryce. Thanks Carl. I have made one book, the graphics and the story for my niece. Making pictures takes so much concentration for me that for a while I forget the pain… anything that can do that is a plus. I have found many people that helped me with my art; such as it is, and they have all been very helpful and patient… most are, like me, handicapped. This medium is a wonderful way for us to express ourselves.
