Hi! I am known as the smiling teacher. As you can tell from my online name, I am a teacher. I teach English to mostly Hispanic students in grades K-5. I learn almost as much from them as they learn from me. I have learned a lot of Spanish ( four-letter as well as conversational words LOL) just by being with them daily. I took two years of Latin in high school ( back in the Dark Ages) and never had the opportunity to take a foreign language. I have lots of funny "teacher/student" stories, but I won't bore you with them here.
IÂ have a husband, two single adult sons, two cats, and one goat.
I am a computer fanatic. When I first went back to college in the 80's to finish my degree, I took a math elective computer class to write math programs on the ancient IBM's which used DOS. I was hooked!! I was the first person at my school to do lesson plans and student grades on the computer when Apple computers changed the school scene.
I got into computer graphics two years ago by taking a classs to learn PSP. From there, I learned about Bryce, Poser, and a host of other programs. I occasionaly use PS. I had two Art History classes in college and loved them. I also had an Art For Teachers class and dabbled around doing kid-projects which was so much fun. While growing up, I never had the opportunity to take formal art lessons. That, however, is about to change. Beginning, Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, I will be taking one-on-one lessons from a lady from Norway, Siri Gunderson. I am so excited!!
