It's great to be a part of Renderosity and finally show my work (most of which has been sitting around for ages) to the world. I am humbled however, when I see such a range of talent out there!
Oh, and I sooooo want a Wacom Intuos 3 Tablet...!BIOSteven James was born in Norwich, England in 1970. He took an interest in art at an early age, and followed a creative course throughout his education, finally receiving an HND in Graphic Design from the Norfolk Institute of Art and Design, in 1993.
Despite his experience in many aspects of computer design, his only exposure to computers while at College were the small Apple Macs that were used for typesetting. Everything else was self-taught, after leaving college. Typically, his first design job after leaving college involved producing paper-based materials such as leaflets, brochures and catalogues.
Since then his career has involved many aspects of creativity, with work including graphic design, multimedia, web design and even writing the soundtrack for a computer game! It was while working on the music for a computer game, that he gained his first experience in 3D modelling and animation. This knowledge would play a substantial part in the work he produced in the future, both in his career and his personal work.
In December 2000, he moved to Moray in Scotland, after falling in love with the place during his first visit, six months earlier. He has been living in Scotland for four years with his partner, Rebecca. He is currently working as a freelance illustrator and designer, and would very much like to produce more artwork for book jackets and CD album covers. Most of his personal work blends together natural media, photography and computer-generated elements.
To date, several pieces of his work have appeared in Digital Creative Arts, and Computer Arts Magazine. He recently put on his first ever exhibition of personal work at a local arts and culture centre.
