Anthony had died in the arms of Cleopatra. Overcome with grief Cleopatra sent her servants to fetch an Asp and thence died, along with her ladies, from a venamous bite from the creature. On the way to the Gods she rose from her deathbed aboard the funereal barque to see Anthony once more, an aparition within an aparition. She called out, 'Goodbye Anthony, Goodbye......my love'.
