you have to have java/javascript enabled click on one of the headings up top (eg. text & 3d sketch), and the frame on the left should fill with a search form. pop in a keyword and hit enter. if the frame on the left doesnt activate, you probably have java disabled. which means youre probably out of luck, because for some reason microsoft no longer provides downloads of java virtual machine... i reinstalled windows xp, and in order to get into rosity chat i had to spend an hour searching google for a java virtual machine that wasnt linked to microsoft.com. cheers, -gabriel

The site causes Netscape to crash when Java is disabled for security reasons. So I guess we would have to use the insecure Explorer Java set-up to access it.

I'm using Netscape Communicator 4.8 for Mac OS with Java and JavaScript enabled. The frameset loads, but I get Java applet error messages. If you want to look for a 3D model, there's always MeshNose (accessible from the 3DSite.com Model Market page).

That's a very nice site. Thanks for the link. I posted this in the Photoshop forum, but I have started a little log of all the bookmarks i have found. It's crude, but designed foe me, and i thought i would share, hopefully you guys can get some use out of it, I plan to update regularly

nance -- .wrl seems to be 'VRML' format. i dont know what it is, or what program these files are native to, but 3ds max imports them. if you want, send me the model and ill convert it to .obj or .3ds format for you. dampeoples -- thanks for the links. cheers, -gabriel

Haven't reinstalled and tried it on the new box yet, but Jcleaver mentioned that good'ol Crossroads3D should do the trick. Let me give that a shot first, but thanks much gabriel.

VRML is Virtual Reality Modeling Language, used (form what I have seen) primarily in creating 3D-/VR-type effects on web sites.

Works in Netscape 7.01 and the reason for no more jave update from MS is that Billiy boy got his knickers in a twist when Sun sued them for rigging java so it wouldn't work well or not at all on other browsers than IE so MS played spoiled brat and said they won't even support java anymore in new systems (which has led to another suit)

You can download a real java virtual Machine at java.sun.com. Sun's java lacks only a few features (like the ability for a rogue web site to access com features in critical systems) It is the real java interpreter, so it should do everything that the MS one did, and more. Eric
