Subject: Preliminary Victoria 3 renders (with Daz's permission)

CDI ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 12:00 AM

Daz has been so great with their Mil figures, actually having setting where one can get rid of the Supermodel look and achive a weighted appearance that CL seems to completely IGNORE!!! Can I be greedy (and probably the oddball) and ask for any quick renders of the body moprhs...specifically the weight adjusting ones?? If the morphs have been improved as you describe Voodoo Id love to see them Thankee.

Cheryle ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 12:02 AM

Anton- i know- i am just goofing off here while waiting for work. But- on a more serious note- could you please show us some renders with the elbows and knees bent? also i have this pet peeve about the mill people's butts ;P they all have that office (secratary) spread to them. Could you please show us some renders with the posterior smaller? more like the traditional v shape and not the hourglass shape?

Whoa Nellie! I see late bills and reposession in my future (but LOTS and LOTS of Poser stuff)...LOL! ;o) Laurie

You can make fat women, thin women, muscular women, saggy women, young, old, It is all changeable. I have to finish these mae-up maps so we can get her out to you. Just hang in there. When she is out we'll show you everything.

V2 morphs= No New Geometry= Yeah that's the point Upgrade discount= Don't have that info Stripped = She comes stripped. The morphs are injected or removed using pose files. I think we're going to provide a UV file for UVmapper if you want to use the old mapping. The new mapping is so much nicer. Daz Arcana will have instructions and extensive overviews of her.

"The morphs are injected or removed using pose files." Hmm... I know about injection morphs, but you can "remove" morphs with pose files??? I'm intrigued... A UV file would be a nice touch too. :)

PheonixRising ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 2:09 AM

Yeah you just double click to install a morph or remove it from the cr2. We'll explain it all at release.

Anton, Sword? Oh, you've seen that picture! (maybe I should post it again) :wide grin: It is simply amazing how 3 feet of naked steel manages to get a point across. Most of us don't need to see up the innards of any canals (ears, vaginas, noses); we don't normally even need to see uvulas. However our external geometry is just as important as what you guys have. So (slightly mollified) what kind of pubic morphs? Carolly

elgyfu ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 2:37 AM

I want one, I want one, I want one! Please, put us out of our misery! At least give us a date, a price and some sleep!!!

elgyfu ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 2:39 AM

Oh! When I said I want one just then, I did mean a Victoria 3 not a pubic morph! Just thought I better make that clear!

Zrincx ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 2:40 AM

She has the most wonderful face, looks really good and different from previous Vickis. Congrats Daz.

Anton I can't get over that face, it is just terrific! The body is amazing! I'm holding up a cover assignment so I can use V3 in it. I know, I know, before christmas (today would be nice).

aleks ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 2:52 AM

there are some visible seams on her right hip and legs, as ladyjaiven showed in #27. is this a map thingy? can she wear vicky's clothes?

Cheryle ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 2:53 AM

well you did say " as my fried Judy..." that might explain it?

Anton,

The natural breast morphs and armpits look greatly improved. But, I'm still a little concerned about these areas because they look a lot like Steph's problem with poly size mismatch where her hip meets her abdomen in front below the belly button.

Like LadyJaiven, I'm wondering about the areas I've circled. Are you saying those lines on her thighs are material zones for stockings and not a new grouping of upper-lower thigh polys? And what about the side of her hip, where it meets the abdomen? Granted, that line inside her breast may just be a severe morph and high specular where the l_collar and chest meet on V2.

Would it be possible to post a render of her set to all white with no textures in DAZ's Complex Global Lighting #1? If those lines are still there in that circumstance, then the lines are a result of poly size mismatch.

Her ribs and hips look fantastic, btw. Sorry if I sound negative. I just thought you guys might want to work those areas a bit more if there is a problem.

One more thing: If you're working on make-up, does that mean she comes with textures, or are you working on a complimentary kit? More importantly, does she come with a sword? :-)

Philywebrider ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 3:14 AM

"For these images, they are only quick renders, testing a few poses and morphs." Lets not tear these renders apart, and ask a million questions, remember the obove statement, these renders are just some prelimary beta stuff that they were nice enough to show. Soon all will be revealed...

SAMS3D ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 4:10 AM

what was this rendered in? Sharen

My Renderosity Store

PheonixRising ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 4:31 AM

Sharen, I rendered in P4. Not sure about Will. Migal. As I said above. There is a new material zone there. There are no poly mismatch issues. That area is one of the new material zones. The settings look off for the bump or highlight. That is all. Don't worry. The breast circle is just a catch of light on the mesh. :) There is a makeup map included in the map pack. A seperate pack of will be available for only those that are looking for makeup. Okay back to work. They get really cranky here when we post so it is better we just show you more when she is released. Catch ya later, Anton PS:Again Don't worry. She has made it past 9 beta's.

Roger, Anton. Thanks. Nine betas? Sheesh! When you could have just had one big public one after release? running and ducking

Styxx ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 4:55 AM

She really does look good! I like how she handles that stretched out pose. The morph injection sounds very intresting too! Can't wait!

SAMS3D ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 5:20 AM

Well, she sure looks wonderful, what textures are you using, will she have her own or can we use our other textures on her for Vicky? Sharen

FyreSpiryt ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 6:35 AM

What an excellent idea with the morph injection! Smaller file sizes, and morphs can't crosstalk if they aren't there!

milamber42 ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 6:46 AM

Have you (DAZ) thought about a Morphos mapping file for V3?

movida ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 7:31 AM

I can't believe I read this entire thread...oh yeah, I want her too

rasputina ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 7:34 AM

wow she is lovely from all accounts, I particularly like how the shoulder and collar area looked in the stretched out poses, and the muscles tension is wicked.

Thorne ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 8:38 AM

Glad to see that her face is still so plain jane! It makes us face sculptors work all the more challenging (i.e. valuable) Damn nice bod you guys. Great work!

Mosca ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 9:02 AM

V2 has a "pubic detail morph," which is basically Barbie-crotch with a slot--nothing resembling an actual human vagina. Wait and see, I guess.

akin_ ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 10:16 AM

Hi guys ! Wow ! What a thread, it's coming Hot here ! I would be interested to get some face expressions too ! Could we have some here ?? Thanks a LOT ! Nice work men ! =) A'kin

PheonixRising ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 11:27 AM

Wow. I was wondering how long before they moved this thread. Sign of the times, I guess, when a V3 release thread gets moved out of the Poser Forum. Wasn't even one of our threads. Oh well. I guess answering all these questions drew too much attention. Catch you guys after release. I wonder where they will move the V3 questions to? Anton Daz3d.com

Well, with the little material zone sniggle aside, I think she looks incredible! The armpit looks so much more realistic, as does her ribcage. Anton, is that the hair you posted some pics of awhile back? It looks fantastic too!

danfarr ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 12:14 PM

Carolly, I remembered very well our conversation at GDC last year when you specifically asked us for better detail in the genital area. With that conversation in mind (as well as requests from others), we did add a few morphs for surface genitals for Victoria. I don't promise that the genitals will be satisfactory to everyone but as with all of our products we offer a 30 day satifaction guarantee. We are still working on the pricing of Victoria 3. We are hoping to offer an upgrade price for people who own a prior Victoria product. Since we are using the morph injection/removal techniques we are breaking down the product into a few different products. This way we can offer a lower base priced product and people can customize the figure as they would like in the time frame that they want. The base product will contain two separate .obj's. One that is grouped out for the new blend zones and with new UV. The other can utilize the previous Victoria Clothing and texture maps. We have tried to retain as much backwards compatibility as possible but we did not want that to restrict the forward movement with the product. We don't expect Victoria 3 to be everything to everyone but overall we feel (and our beta testers seem to agree) that Victoria 3 really pushes the limits of the environment she is designed for. As I mentioned in an earlier post we are planning to release Victoria 3 prior to Christmas. But if we are really lucky we may have her for sell later this week. Sincerely, Dan Farr

aleks ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 12:33 PM

danfarr: "[...]Victoria 3 really pushes the limits of the environment she is designed for." lol, oh please, don't. that "environment" is already unstable within it's own limits. ;]

saxon ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 1:23 PM

For Shock ing reasons I'm with Carolly on the pubic morph issue. But, I really want to know how Vicky 3 animates. Millenium figures have some IK limitations. I often use a third IK from the hip through to the head, this works fabulously with Eve (and by default I would imagine with Posette) but not with later Daz figures.

akin_ ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 1:24 PM

Okay Dan ! I will look forward the morph injection (Good idea :) ! Do you wish any photos to give to the modeler for the genitals ??? ;P HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ! Well ! I definitively think it will be a perfect Santa gift ! (If my wife does agree of course ! =) Cheers, A'kin

saxon ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 1:29 PM

Actually, while there's a chance of catching Dan's ear/eye. The animals, what's with having the IK all the way down to the toes, that's plain silly. Oh and just try changing them in the hierarchy editor...

Migal ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 1:48 PM

I'm really anxious to see how you guys did the stripped Cr2s and morph files. That could solve a lot of distribution issues. I'm not too worried about her groin. If she has more mesh we can put new morphs there ourselves, if we want.

Her wrist and armpit tendons look remarkable.

Cheryle ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 1:54 PM

"But if we are really lucky we may have her for sell later this week" Dont release it unless you are absolutely convinced that it is ready to go. I would rather wait then have a product shipped out the door before it's ready oh will old poses still work with it?

akin_ ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 1:57 PM

Hey Migal ! Buy Cr2Edit and you will see what is MOR injection, or look at Les Bentley files ! tss.... friendly, Akin

Mosca ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 4:01 PM

So, the base figure will be available at one price, then we pay for add-on morph packages? Hmmmm. Does that mean the base figure comes as is, without any morphs?

CrystalDragon ( ) posted Tue, 17 December 2002 at 5:20 PM

oh! oh! I have a question: since Vic 3's menu is on the platinum club's page, does that mean she'll be a platinum club item? Just had to ask! 8p ~DM
