Here is a little and late Christmas present for you all. When I saw the magnificent Two Towers movie I could not resist to try to remodel the awesome set of helm`s deep . Sadly I have not enough time to put more detail in it or just even to texture it appropriately . Its not an exact copy I remodeled it from my memories and some rather small images I pulled from the Internet.

If there may be the one amoung you who who will take the gauntlet of texturing - Oh , I really hope that . Contact me if you need any other files :

I release helms deep in Freestuff in three versions

  1. only the building - 30.000 faces . pp2 + obj
  2. building + building rocks + rocky platform - 70.000 faces pz3 scene file
  3. building + building rocks + mountain range (full blow) 320.000 faces - pz3 file

If you are interested to have the mountain range or base rocks in other obj format - plz contact me

Hope you enjoy it
have a look at some quick Poser renders
comments are welcome

Have a nice Christmas

Excellent Work! Though, i did load the Mountain part in MAX & reduced the poly count to 25%... And i remapped all the parts in UVMApperPro. Here's a quick render with new UVMapped objects. Thanks Kelc for a wonderful Model! Marco

Just tried the Mountain & Countour Parts with textures from the "3DWorldz Kit"...

I'll need a bigger one for mountain...

But, it's starting to look good!

Kelc, let me know if you want the new UVMapped Objects!

Later!

Marco

I absolutely love this! Fantastic job, Kelc! That having been said: I can't for the life of me figure out how to load this in Poser... Perhaps I'm just really dumb, but since this file didn't come with a readme, can anyone tell me which files go where? I've tried to open the PP2 and PZ3 files in Poser 4, but every time I do, it freezes up. If someone could help me out, I would be most greatful! :) -Theonering

OpticalSingenoid ( ) posted Fri, 27 December 2002 at 4:16 PM

Theonering, Maybe it's because the Mountain Part is so huge: Over 150,000 polys just for that! That why i lower the poly count in MAX... Maybe if Kelc gets my Lower Res & UVMapped version, then he can offer that one?? I'll leave him a message too! Later! Marco

kelc ( ) posted Sat, 28 December 2002 at 2:38 AM

You should be able to open your pz3 files from anywhere you like . Its possible that the polycount of the mountain freezes your Poser. But in case of the pp2 . Just put the prop anywhere you want in your prop library . I did not make a RSR when I propped it in ProPack - so if you are running Poser 4 you only have the shrugging guy. Also if you are on MAC you have to run it through MAC Converter first. But if you have the pp2 you also have the obj of the building. Try to import it into Poser - File - import - Wavefront Obj ( check reverse normals and 1000% Standard figure size for managable size in Poser ) - if this fails to function the 30.000 faces may be to much for your system . hope this helps a little bit

igohigh ( ) posted Sat, 28 December 2002 at 12:58 PM

The full version opened fine here (Thanks kelc): Windoze98 SE PIII-600 512megRAM One thing I've noticed with large polycount models is to make sure NO other apps are running, espcially FireWalls, Anit-viruses, ANYTHING in the background. Not Helm's Deep related but also don't save PZ3s with bum maps applied if you intend on opening it again, I've had to start several projects over before learning this one; just apply them when your ready to render but save the file without them! As time permits I will be mapping the full version but will be out for a bit as I am about to upgrade the P3 to 850 and add a new HD. So don't wait up, it'll most likely be a month before I can get it all mapped out (very limited time here).

Thanks kelc and igohigh. I tried igohigh's suggestion and the PP2 file was able to load. Looks awesome! Once again, great work Kelc!
