Can somebody tell me what happened to Poserstyle.com? I tried asking the webmaster from an earlier posting and couldnt get a straight answer as to why the site is "Forbidden" right now. Not angry (yet), but would like to be filled in on why the site seems to be down. Thanks, David H

I believe they are looking for a new host, there was a problem with the php on their site. They have already stated here that they will extend our membership and have apologised for the site being down. Marque

Yeah I had read about the extending membership and stuff but could never get a clear answer as to why they were having to do that in the first place. If it were feasible, it probably would've been better to email the membership to let them know what was going on instead of finding out the hard way. Dave

It comes down to technical dificulties between their site and the service provider. I believe they had a script that was causing server problems on the host, so the provider pulled the site until it can be rectified. This is not nessisarily a problem with the site itself. The server could be set up in a non-standard way, or with a varient of the server software that can cause the problem. I know the PoserStyle folks are trying to get the site up as soon as possible. Bad timing though. With the release of the Crusader outfits, there's been a lot more interest in PoserStyle. They've got great stuff there, and now that Rena is doing textures there, it can only get better. As for emailing the membership, that'd have been a great idea.

Once again we would like to thank everyone for their patience. Due to circumstances beyond our control we have not been able to contact our subscribers on an individual basis. We have been forced to wait for our members to contact us. Given this fact, we posted the following here on Renderosity in the Poser forum shortly after our situation began:

Title: PoserStyle.com Status Update - All Members Please Read!!!

Attached Link: mailto:webmaster@poserstyle.com

Hello all,

Thank you for being so patient with us during our downtime. We are setting up an alternate method of supplying content. If you are a current member please do the following:

  1. Contact 'webmaster@poserstyle.com' with a request for product(s) you are waiting to download. Please copy and paste the information from either your 'verotel' or 'paypal' subscription email into this request.

  2. Follow the link(s) you will receive via email to download the product(s) you requested.

We hope this will help to lessen the impact of being cut off from the available content for the time being.

Reminder: All members will receive subscription extensions which will more than make up for any inconvenience. Once again thank you for your patience.

Take care,

The PoserStyle Team

For the sake of clarity I will present the basic letter we have been sending our subscribers as they contact us as well:

Hi XXXXXX,

We are experiencing a server problem that might take a few more days to fix. We announced our plan on Renderosity in the Poser Forum with the hope that members would see it and contact us. We have set up an alternate
method of getting you content over the next few days. Simply let us know what files you were intending to download and we will send links to you via email.

We apologize for the inconvenience and will extend all subscriptions to more than make up for the time you are locked out.

We hope to hear from you with your requests.

Take care and Happy Holidays,

The PoserStyle Team

These are the steps we have taken to inform our subscribers of our current status.

Dave: It was not our intent to be evasive, we simply did not see the purpose of going into great detail about the specifics of the server issue. That being said, we have answered all questions presented to us in a very forthcoming and straight forward manner. It is our hope that the quality of your PoserStyle experience has been adequate enough to grant us your continued patience as we resolve the issues at hand.

We have put in place a temporary system to supply you with content via links to the specific products we carry. We have already had a number of members take advantage of this system.

This weeks release (PS-9000-AHX) will occur Friday. We apologize for the lateness of this release, but due to the Holiday and the current circumstances it could not be helped. We hope you understand.

You patience will be rewarded with subscription extensions that will make you forget all about the current downtime. As additional subscription time equals additional products, we will make sure that everyone is satisfied.

Thank you for your continued patience and support.

Please continue to have a happy holiday,

The PoserStyle Team

Didnt meant to ruffle any feathers. Message that I got when I emailed said webmaster didnt mention anything about a server issue. It just mentioned that my subscription would be extended for any downtime that was incurred. Believe me I understand about server issues. We go round and round with ours at work. Evidently I didnt get the standard form letter, but a variant. Only posted cause I was hoping someone else could fill in the blanks. Wasnt trying to point fingers just trying to get a handle of what was going on. Thanks for being frank with us and explaining the situation Dave

If any of the Poserstyle team will contact me, I have a server and lots of space. I already have Postnuke files in place, so the transfer would be very smooth. Please contact me. deidrianne@aol.com hisminky@gte.net
