Subject: Tailorized redistributions

Did this ever get settled? Can tailorized CR2s be redistributed? Lots of us don't have the Tailor, nor the time or patience it would take to convert the V2 clothes for V3. Will it be possible for the people who have already converted clothes to post them? Will vendors be able to provide updates to their V2 clothes for V3?

They can be posted if they aren't full body like the catsuit etc. Well at least from what I understand. I would love it if people would post more stuff cause some people (like me) can't use it and never will be able to.

It is all up to the creator of the clothing model, unless the Tailor has been used to apply specific DAZ figure MTs and the resulting cr2 is intended to be redistributed. For instance, clothing with V2 or V3's barbarian FBM would probably require permission from DAZ, but clothing that had just been reshaped to fit V3 would not, unless it was using DAZ morphs to achieve the V3 shape. In other words, making something fit a DAZ figure requires no permission. Making something out of a DAZ figure (or DAZ MT, or any other DAZ product) is a different story and may require permission, based on reading the extensive threads over at PP, which included statements from DAZ.

So I guess technically challenged folks like me, and others who don't have the Tailor are just going to have to hope that some kind souls start converting clothing and sharing the results. ::begs and pleads::

I think in this particular case, the question might boil down to how the V3 mannequin was made. Personally, I think it is the responsibility of the clothing merchants to make their garments V3 compliant, if they so choose. That seems like a smarter business decision than just letting sales for previous V1/V2 clothing models vanish completely.

Can it be done by using objaction mover? That way you must have the original clothing item before the tailored V3 version would work. Or am I totally off base here? Kate

Objaction Mover is a tool for redistributing modified object files. For example, I take the Vicki 1/2 object file (blMilWom.obj) into a modeling program, cut the head off and weld my own new head onto the Vicki body. I've taken the DAZ model, modified it, and now I want to redistribute what I did. I can encode my modified Vicki object file with Objaction Mover, so that somebody has to have the original DAZ Vicki object file in order for Objaction Mover to decode my modified version.

Objaction Mover has its uses, I just can't think of how it would apply to getting V2 clothes to fit V3, unless the mannequin is really just a modified DAZ object file. If that is the case, then it might have been a good idea to encode it with Objaction Mover prior to distribution. Although, nobody from DAZ has said anything yet, so it doesn't appear to be a problem.

Ah, so tailor doesn't actually modify the .obj in any way? Didn't realize that since I haven't had a chance to install and use it yet. (Please God, let it be easier than magnets which I STILL haven't figured out how to use). Kate
