Subject: Posette clothes for Vickie

compiler ( ) posted Wed, 01 January 2003 at 3:17 PM · edited Wed, 18 December 2024 at 10:55 AM

I'm trying to find a convenient and quick way to convert my Posette clothes library so that Vickie can use them. So far, the only way I have found is : load the dress and Vickie in poser 5 Toggle the dials of the dress until the dress fits Vickie. Export the dress as a single .obj Import that .obj In the set up room, import Vickie (or, better, a dress made for Vickie which has the same part as the dress I want to convert) Autogroup the .obj Edit the groups Exit the set up room and save the new cr2 to the library. This process has a big problem : the grouping. At places were Posette and Vickie differ strongly (collar/chest and buttocks/hip), it is very difficult to group the polygons correctly. I always end with some poking in my converted cr2. Has anybody found a better way to convert Posette dresses to fit Vickie ? Thanks in advance for any help. Compiler

you might follow the threads dealing with fitting vicki 2 clothes to vicki 3. you'd need to approach this problem in the same fashion. however, someone will probably come along soon and provide more specifics.

I remember the time viccy 1 was released and many people tried similar, but there is no other way and most of the results were poor( we didnt even had a setuproom) only thing with viccy2 there was a viccy2p4 released from DAZ means a viccy2 that could use posettes clothes.

I have vic to P4, but she could not take the numerous morphs already done for Posette' body. I made my own by replacing Posette's head with that of Vickie and it worked quite all right, but it meant that I had to have 2 versions for each character I made : one Vickie, one Posette/Vickie, which was not satisfying, especially when it came to body texture : getting the same tone for both was problematic. Plus it meant doing twice as much work for building the characters... As for the threads to convert Vic2clothing to V3, they could work, but 2 things are missing for Posette : the mannijin and the Joint parameter pose, and I have no clue as to how to make them. Thanks for answering anyway.

Maybe if you asked those folks nicely, they would do 'em up for you (us)...or at least mention how they did it.

One major problem that I mentioned before. The setup room should use the bonestructure and the autogrouping that belongs to the selected bonestructure. Example ; If you load a P4 figure, Hi or Lo, or a P3 figure, you have one chest with both breasts on it. The autogroup function "thinks" you are working on Judy by default. hate it , hate it, hate it. I work mostly with Posette and her sister, the P4-Lo figure, and it drives me mad. Every new item i fabricate, I have hours of grouping to do; hate it. And then weld them all. The welding should be automatic. Unbelievable mistake of CL. The selected bonestructure and the autogroup function should work hand in hand.

I am working on Mannikin v2.0 which would also do posette morphs. Anyone interested in beta testing?

Second thing Make a Jacket. Import the object, go to the setup room, import the P4 bonestructure, hours of grouping pleasure as the autogroup is for Judy, weld the things, and return to the pose room. Now open the properties and see : the jacket has fingers, and toes, and shins etc. Even if you only gave it a chest, abdomen, and a hip. Delete the other bones and you are in deep ...trouble. My solution : I use smart props a lot. For tops and skirts. When imported you have an option , not sure about the name, "use bends of parent". It then uses the bends of the parent and its next higher and lower parts. Parent to the hip and the skirt moves as the legs move, or when the abdomen moves. It does not listen to the chest or shins any more. Try it and you will see what I mean. Tony

Yes I am interested in beta testing. Most seem to have forgotten Posette and her sisters. Tony

I've had mixed reuslts converting Posette's clothing to work on vicky. Details of what I did can be found on a couple of threads at PoserPros http://www.poserpros.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=19693 and http://www.poserpros.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1886 Chris Cox

I am surely interested in beta testing your manikin, LordNakagawa. Since I own the Tailor 1.1 too, I should be able to work on the same lines as what you did for V2 to V3. The only missing part would be the JPS pose, but may be this can be overcome in the set up room ? Thanks for your offer, can't wait to test it. :-)

Oooops... Sorry for non french speakers, I was just telling Marco how much I liked his idea.

Awhile back a user here named Imran released to freestuff A line of clothes which are Vicky versions of Posettes clothes. They use the same Texture maps and everything. If you search for Imran in the Freestuff you will find them. He has a lot of other nice clothes as well. And best of all, they are Free!

Tu es Bienvenue Compiler! :-)) Je vais en faire un tutorial plus detaile et visuel apres les Fetes. Yes, Imran's clothes are excellent! Wish You all, lots of 3D Fun in 2003!! Marco
