THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Big project coming up...Interested?

Hey kids. Let me start by saying tht this is NOT a paying gig...not for you OR for me. I am involved with a small group of investors who are trying to secure funding for a massive combat simulation game they are developing (think a giant paintball-ish field with several realistic environments; a military base, a factory, a research lab, etc). I have accepted, pro bono of course, the task of taking their investment prosectus and making it clean and pretty (emphasis on pretty) enough to show around to some rich individuals and businesses in the hope that someone might wish to invest some capital. I will need illustrations of the various areas of the facility, combatants, equipment, etc. to get the prospectus back on track (no one has messed with it in months) and don't have the time or inclination to do it all myself. It's more of a strictly creative project than anything else, although if we can use anything you do, we'll give you a copy of the published report and maybe (no details available at this point) a voucher for some green if and/or when the facility gets built. If you are interested, drop me a line and I'll email you a PDF file of the last version of the report to better illustrate what I'm babbling about. Again, just to stress the point, this IS NOT a paying project, but if you were thinking about doing some military/industrial renders anyway...

Funding at the front end is often on existent, but my feelingis that some royalty or percentage, even small, is appropriate. Pro bono is great for charity. But if someone is potentially going to reap profits, then sharing is appropriate. Many are game for some risk. Think about it. I was starting to get into mapping for Sierra's Half Life Counter Strike and found literally thousands of maps online so no need to make yet another. But new games are always fun. Post again if the developers are willing to offer a small percentage.

As mentioned, I'm doing this pro bono, in part because I'm friends with a couple of the partners and also because I thought it would be entertaining, for myself and maybe a few other like-minded folks, from a purely creative point of view. Occaisonally it's a hoot just to tackle a design/illustration project with no deadlines, no restrictions or creative limitations, no boss, no hassles and no greenbacks changing hands. Also, I guess I wasn't communicating too effectively (my bad), but this is not a PC or console game; it's a live action, real-world combat simulation.

I hate to be redundant, but the last sentence is "...just to stress the point, this IS NOT a paying project, but if you were thinking about doing some military/industrial renders anyway..."

Lot's of people here at Renderosity do this just as a source of amusement. I just figured, "what the hell, you might get a nice-looking published piece for your portfolio, if you have one, and you may someday get a few bucks out of it."

If this game is going to be offered for SALE, a percentage of profits would only be fair, if you wish to donate your work, that's fine, but for many here cgi is what they do for a living...
