I just posted another (at long last) render to my gallery. "Here be Dragons - New York after Dark" Tried to cram as much as my system could handle into a scene again. I needed an urban alley so this one I started with a beautiful City Scene from Imagination Works and let her rip. I was really pleased with the way the lighting worked with the Dragon's pose. Pure Poser. If anyone has any comments or criticisms, please post in my gallery. Many thanks.

Your gallery is truly amazing and inspiring! Shows that it is possible to do such complicated plots in Poser. I made sure I voted for the pictures :-) I have to ask though, what machine are you using that can render such a sizable pz3 ?

Is this Poser 5 or 4? Oh and the shadows, there doesn't seem to be any. Did you leave them off or did you lose them? I've noticed in Poser 4 that once you exceed a certain file size for your ram, you lose the shadows.

the lack of groud shadows makes your figures look as though they were cut out of a printed magazine and glued to your background image. you should really consider using shadows

Once I finished importing the background into the scene, the street surface stopped receiving shadows (the shadows were there in preliminary renders until final assembly). I checked that all 22 low level lights and 6 spots were still set to cast shadows & all shadows set to full. The characters and clothing had shadows turned on, and I had use shadows turned on for the render (I only know of those 4 settings that should affect a render). I thought about burning them in in post, but finally decided to post as pure poser. Have to set it aside now, because I have to work on my taxes this next week, but I may have time to dig into it later on (unless I get tied up into another of the scenes I've got in the works). For now, I've just re-cropped to minimize the flaw. Camera angle was deliberate, by the way - first thing I set up after assembling the basic setting, and I liked how the framing worked so much it was the main thing that decided me to go ahead with the scene and try for a full render. Poser 4/ProPak on P4 2.0Ghz WinXP and 512Megs of memory. I really appreciate the comments, btw - Thanks! Jerry

That's what I thought, You maxed out your ram for Poser 4 and it stoped rendering shadows.

Great render leather-guy. I didnt know that you could import other pz3's into each other "Scene was built in 5 PZ3 modules, then assembled by importing and aligning each in turn. " going to have to give that a try. Gees and I have been doing it the hard way all the time. Thanks

Yeah, you need to keep your lighting in mind - either use the same lighting in all or have your preferred lighting saved off so you can re-apply at need. PZ3s can also be renamed to CR2s and loaded from the figure library, as well.

thanks for the tips , I gave it a go and its working fine. Much easyer to build some things a bit at a time or they get lost in the shuffle so to say .
