Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 11 12:18 am)
Gosh, 1.2 GB of hard drive space is next to nothing when it comes to rendering images. I'm guessing you have Windows 2000 or Windows XP. You need more hard drive space. Beyond that, the following actions are the best way to combat this problem: 1.) Put Poser on a different drive than your operating system. You need lots of hard drive space. 2.) Once Poser is on a new hard drive, you'll get this error message rarely. When you do, it's time to defrag your hard drive, and reboot.
I just managed to backup about 700Mb of Poser data (including purchased items) onto a CD-R and tried again, problem solved. I am currently running Windows Xp professional version, my CPU is an 2 year old Athlon 1 Ghz with 320Mb ram, my hard drive is a Quantum fireball 30Gb, in which I parted into 3 sections(one for my Windows apps, one for my Poser, and the rest for files storage and games). Hmmm, so I guess I am in a need for upgrading my hardware, and perhaps delete some of the unnecessary Poser files? Could you please tell me what hardware configuration is your system so I may make appropriate upgrade, that is IF I have appropriate fundings to do so. Oh, and thank you lululee for your compliment. After I got my Vicky 3, I've been busy deleting files to make room for the new model and its accessory. DAZ3D really did an excellent job on the new character, especially on the joints. Victoria 3.0 worths every penny.
Boy, you can get a 60GB 7200RPM drive for less than $100 (as low as $80) or a WD 120GB 7200RPM w/8MB cache for as low as $155. The Western Digitals with 8MB cache are rockin'! I'd avoid partitioning drives. It's useless these days unless you're forced to use only one drive, even then it's only good for organization or multiboot - no other benefits whatsoever. I haven't partitioned a drive in four years or more. When you get the new drive, keep XP Pro on the 30GB, but as one partition, and use the other for data. I'd also consider getting some more memory. A 256MB stick will help a little. 512MB would help alot. 256MB PC133 costs a measely $25 to $50, depending upon the manufacturer and dealer. $50 to $80 for 256MB DDR memory (if that's what your motherboard uses instead). Your cpu is fine. Should be good for at least another year. For less than $150 you can resolve all of your issues. I'd strongly recommend considering it, especially if you intend on doing anything useful with Poser or decide to use more highend 3D applications. V3 will suck your current resources like a vampire... HTH
C makes it easy to shoot yourself in the
foot. C++ makes it harder, but when you do, you blow your whole leg
off.

I kept getting the "insufficient disk space to render at the current resolution" message while attempt to render, can some one tell me what's going on? this had never occurred to me except throughout today. I'm using Poser Pro Pack V4.2.0.160 My rendering option setting: render to new window width: 1000 pixels height: 929 pixels resolution: 75 pixels/inch (previous res. was at 100 p/i) and I still have 1.2 Gb of hard drive space left.
