The box that Bryce 5 comes in says, "Image Editing Tools - Import 2D images from a variety of formats, tansform them into 3D objects, then incorporate them into your scenes" How do you do this?

Images can be imported into the Terrain Editor, then their grayscale values are used to create a 3D shape.

There's loads of ways to stick a 2D image into a 3D image. You can use it in the terrain editor, 2D picture, texture, bump map,..... The best thing to do is to get Real World Bryce 4. It's a book that explains more or less everything related to Bryce. Authors: Susan A. Kitchens & Victor Gavenda.

About Real World Bryce 4...I have Bryce 5? Do they have an updated book?

Not that I know of, it's a must have book if you want answers. There's only a few topics missing from it that relate to Br5.

Have heard conflicting reports, one says no update, one says one in the works. In the meantime, RWB4 contains much information, many tutorials, written well and easier to understand than the manuals, whether you are a beginner or an expert or somewhere in between, this book will help you. A lot. My copy goes on my bed, to my easy chair, to my computer table, wherever I am when I'm looking to learn something new. You can jump around in the chapters to the things you're most interested in, read it all in order, it is very versatile. And the color section in the middle has some fascinating work in it, too. Have never heard anyone who has it complain about it, except to wish it was updated. Worth hunting down. (You'd think I got royalties from sales of the book) :^)

BTW, I've had to tape mine together at the spine, the pages are falling apart from wear, LOL!

catlin if you look in my gallery there are some tributes done using this method not everything translates well because of the colours and only work from the original angle.also try the invert button.

Thanks airflamesred I took a look at your images and I love the one of "Siouxie". What i would like to do is a terrain image of my parents wedding photo as a special something for my mums birthday. My dad died just over a year ago and mum misses him terribly so I thought that something like this would cheer her, but it's got to be perfect. So when I get started would you all mind if I occasionally asked stupid or obvious questions? Thanks for all your help.....8) Catlin
