1.6 is the latest P3dO. After nearly one year pause - on the forum - where P3dO has severely suffered from Windows XP, P3dO is here again. The 1.6 is a major improvement in image viewing as well as many inner additions. - Control selection (like Windows Explorer) - Image preview with auto stretch. - Zoom improved. - Poser 5 runtimes added to Go To menu (still a bit buggy - will be fixed with 1.6.2). - Poser material (.mt5, mz5) file format added. - New translation system. Bug fix: At last Copy/Paste after renaming a file Since 1.5.3 (the last upload on Poser forums) the addons are even more significant. As well the plugins (ZipExplorer, PatRenamer, AWK, Rsr2Png) have all been updated in 2002 and should be renewed. I am preparing new plugins (one for Carrara and one for the Sims), as well as a 3D viewer for P3dO. Also planned is an AWK update to read through Poser compressed files. I've severall plugins projects running at the same time, some are postponed and others suddenly burst out from nowhere. i.e. the ZipExplorer project is still alive but has been ranked low priority compared to 3D viewing. I've a P3dO request form on my web page and this request form is used to decide which are the priorities of the Poser community. One was Control selection - now done - next one is 3D viewing - also coming. The 3D viewer will be based on my 3D viewer See3D and will support Poser files and then more. I would like to thank those who took time to fill the request form (also called Poll), be sure all requests are taken into account. I've also a mailing list on the P3dO page that will be used to mail you for P3dO updates (about 4 scheduled this year). Last, the shareware version of P3dO called P3dO Pro will be available in February (or March). That is to say : - P3dO will stay free and will still grow up - P3dO Pro will include more features Yarp

btw ZipExplorer I had a remark today that ZipExplorer should display "more than 1st graphic in a zip file". Double-click on the picture in P3dO and you'll see all Poser pictures in file. An improvement sheduled is to be able to add, remove, modify files in the Zip. btw P3dO Plugins If you have some C++ skill the P3dO plugins SDK is freely available, just drop me a mail at yarp@senosoft.com. An example of an external plugin is Morph Manager by Mason, the port from Morph Manager standalone to Morph Manager P3dO plugin was really easy. I should say an MFC dialog project port to a P3dO plugin is only two hours work : time to read the doc, create the project, copy/paste the source, compile ;) I would also like to provide a Delphi SDK for the plugins. If the shareware sells enough SENO will provide it but I haven't enough time to do it myself. If any Delphi Guru wants to try he's/she's more than welcome. It is difficult to do. I've absolutely no opposition in a selling P3dO plugin made by somebody else.

Thanks Yarp I don't know what i would do without P3do very handy when looking up props textures and stuff it's a lot better than scrolling endlessley in the library With P3do i can easily look up what i want then go directly to it within Poser Thanks again

You might as well PAY attention, because you can't afford FREE speech

Thank you, I'm aware how P3dO is usefull. That's why it is free ;) I've got many help offers and people wishing to help. So I forgot to say I would like to thank MadYuri, Lilwolff and Enrique Quezada that were beta testers for 1.6 and they did really good job for I had few problems with that release - quite rare ;) I'm also thankfull to MadYuri for the German translation, Enrique Quezada for the Spanish one and Ilona for the Portuguese. P3dO is now a team project. The guys and girls above deserve your thanks too.

Sims plugin???? My hero! :-)))

yarp ( ) posted Wed, 08 January 2003 at 2:08 PM

The Sims plugin will offer a preview of .iff files, floor texture and other basic Sims files. There's a lot to do on the Sims: 3D viewing, AWK support and so and so. The preview is basic requirement the rest will depend on popularity and... time. The plugin will be available soon on my web site, I'm a bit late because of lot of work due to 1.6: Freeware sites submission and others.

Does the Rsr2Png plug-in do subfolders? It would be nice to be able to generate PNG files from the RSRs for an entire library in one pass.

dona_ferentes ( ) posted Wed, 08 January 2003 at 2:49 PM

Thank you, I'm aware how P3dO is usefull. That's why it is free ;)<<< This is what I love about the attitude of some of the talented people around here. "It's useful, so it's free"! What a change from the more common "It's useful, so let's REALLY crank up the price." Thanks! Morph

yarp ( ) posted Wed, 08 January 2003 at 2:57 PM

Nope jkm, sorry. I know this is a common request that the plugins should work with subfolders and I agree this would be nice. I can't make promises but I promise you that people that spam me, always have what they ask sooner than the others. I don't know how to say no ;) Please fill the request form on my website, I will take it into account. In fact this should have been done with 1.6 - it was planned - but well P3dO is really a huge project now. That's why it is partly becoming shareware, I'll be able to drive it more serioulsy.

You're welcome Morph, I also got so many goodies from the freestuff there. Sometimes paying products also give people more pleasure because their author can give them more time due to the money they earn with. But I agree that raising the price is not a good policy. My challenge is to manage both a free and a quality product, but that is because I've got the chance of having a good job and a company that is P3dO friendly.

It's also because I love programming. I was really willing to make a plugin engine and a 3D engine. That's where the dream comes true, but strange dream in a way. I've some other -programming- dreams, the dream should never ends. Fortunately I also have some normal dreams,... well, I think they are normal ;)

catlin_mc ( ) posted Wed, 08 January 2003 at 7:50 PM

yarp I am pretty new to poser and from what everyone has said your P3dO is very useful. But...what is it and what does it do? Sorry for the dumb question but I've found if you don't ask you never learn. Thanks. Catlin

yarp ( ) posted Wed, 08 January 2003 at 11:48 PM

Sharen, Rsr2Png is a best seller among the P3dO tools. I'm really glad you got it. Catlin_mc, P3dO is an image browser and file manager for Poser. It will greatly ease your navigation through your Poser libraries and then it also tools around to help you manage your Poser stuff (a renamer, a picture converter,...). Could you imagine Windows without Windows Explorer ? Then could you imagine Poser without P3dO ;) btw P3dO is freeware and worth it for a freeware.

Way kewl. I hope it scrolls faster without running out of memory. Looking forward to trying it. Great idea and glad to see it here finally.

LilWolff ( ) posted Thu, 09 January 2003 at 2:30 AM

Hey Boss ;-) Looked in your gallery and did not see any pictures? Someday you are going to surprise me and take a programming break. I promise I won't hurt myself falling out of my chair in pleasant surprise. :-)

Netherworks ( ) posted Thu, 09 January 2003 at 2:52 AM

Hehe, Yarp :) I already spammed you about the batch .rsr to .png (though applying to subfolders would do the trick). I be more than happy to buy P3DO with this capability.

.

yarp ( ) posted Thu, 09 January 2003 at 4:46 AM

Yeh LilWolff you're quite right. I bought Vicky 3 last months and as I was in vacation I said to me I would take time to see how a nice figure it is. I still have enough time to play with Poser but I need to be organized to work efficiently - that's the reason why I did P3dO. At the moment I have P5 on my new XP computer and my Poser stuff still on the old one. It's a real mess to work that way. What I would like to do is cartoon renderings. Each time I see one in the freestuff I DL it immediately but I've been constantly deceived by what I did with them. Recently I grabbed something with texture effects - don't recall the name - that seems promissing. We will see. I promise I'll post something soon. Netherworks, this alas will be a free feature. It is not a low priority one, as I said to you it shoudl already have been done with 1.6. The reason why I won't make this pay is that it is more logic for a plugin to work this way. Historically the first plugin went out before the subfolder browse and so the plugin engine didn't took this into account. A plugin engine modification is always a serious job for the engine must be compatible with all the already existing plugins. I promise - also ;) - this feature will be available with 1.6.2. You're quite right to spam me for this ;)

Yarp and your beta testers - Thank you!!!! P3dO is such a useful util, it amazes me. Wonderful. A tiny suggestion - I very often use the batch renaming util, for moving my MAT folders to 'camera', of course the pz2 files have to be .cm2 then. But I have to fill this in every time. Is it possible to make P3dO so it 'remembers' what was there last time (which settings were used) when one of the utils is used? Or otherwise a 'set as default' button, like in ACDSee. I guess that's part of an ini file or something? Thanks again! :] Fish

yarp ( ) posted Thu, 09 January 2003 at 7:55 AM

No problemo Fishnose, PatRenamer doesn't remember the settings for I thought this wouldn't be usefull. I will add this in next P3dO release, I will also add a "reset" button to clean the selection for emergency cases. The next release of PatRenamer has autonumber features, just the UI at the moment I still ave to write the algo. Akin, vieux bandit. Je peux tout de me faire une annonce sur un forum Franis. Lequel est le mieux ?
