Subject: Probs with Victoria 3 and german MacOS

Holgerr ( ) posted Fri, 10 January 2003 at 5:09 AM · edited Sat, 30 November 2024 at 3:07 PM

Hi there --

I installed the new Victoria with head and body morphs on my Mac (german MacOS) and I am running in serious troubles. The folder hierarchy with my german Poser ProPack is like following:

Poser4/Runtime/libraries/Posen

The Victoria Morph Injectors expect a different name of the last folder: "Pose" instead of "Posen". So none of the Morph injections work. I cannot rename "Posen" to "Pose" because in this case Poser itself won't be able to see the Pose folder at all.

Even more worst: My Poser gui is cluttered with empty parmeter dials, named "-"
The DAZ-tool "dialcleaner" is Windows only, the Python-Script, posted by ockham < http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=1031822> doesn't work on my machine. Weird situation!

And to make it a little more worse: The folks at Curious Labs didn't respond to my mails... :-/

So anyone here has a tip?

Holgerr ( ) posted Fri, 10 January 2003 at 5:18 AM

Small typo above: I asked DAZ for help, not Curious Labs... mmmh, need another cup of coffee... ;-)

The first problem is easy to solve, this is a general problem with the german poser (the developers who did such a nonsense of translating the names of library folders should be #&!%...): Don't rename "Posen", just make a new folder named "Pose" and copy all of the V3 morph injectors into this folder. If you select then something under "Posen/V3" the morph injector will be taken from "Pose". You can also edit the files for correct reference and only use your "Posen" folder but I think it's much easier to spend this additional 20 megabytes...

I'll point this to Rob. Sorry for any inconvenience. German huh? ekk. Please tell me there isn't a Japanese version floating around somewhere.

Japanese would be easy to handle. Really probs are coming from these localized versions in Dansk and Hebrew... ;-) But you are right: I am german. Fredy: Thanks for the tip. It's working great for the moment! :) I am waiting for the Mac version of Dial cleaner...

Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.

Anton, There is a Japanese and French version of Poser 4 and Pro Pack, in addition to German and English. That's referred to as tier one localization in the trade. Steve Cooper

Ryan, You should connect with CL's tech, Al Wilbrand and see if he can help you get your hands on localized versions of Poser to test on. Steve Cooper

Sounds great Mr. Cooper, I'm sending an email now in fact.

BTW after this Poser-translation-mess I prefer NON-localized software-versions...

Since it's unlikely that they will write a Mac version of Dial cleaner (or most other Windows Poser utilities), try deleting unused morphs in the Hierarchy Editor.

rbtwhiz ( ) posted Fri, 10 January 2003 at 2:29 PM

mateo_sancarlos, The Mac version of DialCleaner is around the corner (literally). We are testing for a few issues that came up in the PC version (which we are also fixing). Release, if not later today (I'm pushing hard to get it done), will be early next week... -Rob

I had P4 and PPP - German version. Now I have P5-English version. Can you figure why? ;-) I had enough of moving files from the English folders to my German ones whenever I d/led another zip-file and unpacked. With the new features of V3 (esp. morph injection) this is simply impossible (see above). Willy

Here is something that might help for now and in the future as well. Pay close attention to the part about V3 at the bottom. I would like to have it in German and French too. If someone would like to Translate it now I can put it up, otherwise I will ask Reba and Micah to do it on Monday. Thanks Ryan tech@daz3d.com
