Subject: Correct Reference Question

Terry Mitchell ( ) posted Sat, 11 January 2003 at 4:52 PM ยท edited Wed, 31 July 2024 at 6:03 AM

I originally copied my old P4 Runtime files directly into my first installation of P5 (instead of linking the two) and utilized P5's flexable library structure to reorganize things. Today, I uninstalled P5 totally and renistalled it with the CL Content updater and the latest SR patch, then remerged my backups of the old P5 files being careful not to overwrite any of the newly updated P5 content fixes. Also, whereas my old P5 was installed directly in the root C drive, I reinstalled the updated version to the default "C:CuriousLabsPoser5" directory. Now it seems that it takes P5 forever to find and load textures to most any of the items that I previously had modified and saved in my old P5 (and some never load at all, just freeze up P5). Two questions: Is the patched version of P5 less efficient in finding and loading textures than the original version, or could it be because my updated P5 is looking first for the textures in the old P5 directory structure? Will the Correct Reference program help me here, or does it have problems working in P5 (or in W2K)?

I've got the same problem as you have : I don't dare risking my whole P5 library before I'm sure Correctreference will work with win2K and P5. Let's hope someone has the answer. Compiler

correctreference doesn't work within p5. I've used it on WinXP with no problems. The slowness you're experiencing does sound like your references are out of whack. Correctreference should fix it up for you.

CorrectReference absolutely DOES work with Poser 5 and Poser 4 and Windows XP. I use it extensively on a daily basis.

whoa. stand down rogergordian. I said "within," meaning you can't activate within P5, which is what Terry asked. Of course, I could have misunderstood. :-)

OK, we have a confusing question an answer: "Will the Correct Reference program help me here, or does it have problems working in P5 (or in W2K)?" "correctreference doesn't work within p5." I don't know of any Poser-related utilities that actually are called or used directly from "within" Poser. All this moving of Runtime folders gets confusing. All my Poser 5 in a totally separate Runtime folder, outside of Poser 5 itself. I used CorrectReference on every single item installed in poser 4 & Poser 5. That worked the best for me.

Thank you all for the help. Sounds like Correct Reference could cure my load-time blues. Now, can someone remind this fuzzy old mind of the link to get Correct Reference?
