Subject: Second cry for help.. technical assist on OBJ files not readable

Ikyoto ( ) posted Sat, 29 April 2000 at 8:51 AM ยท edited Mon, 20 January 2025 at 12:01 PM

With the "Millie" change from Jaeger and now with the tail I re-loaded, Poser gives me "Cannot open" when it looks for the OBJ file. The name is EXACTLY the same - I can set the path any way needed and the spelling and case are perfect. It then goes right into the memory leak - "not enough memory" and tells me to allocate more to Poser. I have 256MB on this machine and 500+ on the other! Why are these OBJ files giving me a headache?

If you can import the .obj files as props. Then the problem is almost certainly in the .cr2 file. Are you comfortable with editing and debugging .CR2 files? ScottA

Delete the .rsr file that goes with the .obj Poser mangles these sometimes and it always gives that error.

editing and debugging CR2's is not a prob. What do you have in mind. And I will try killing the obj rsr files now. -------- Damn! It looks like it was the rsr in teh geometries folders. I'll make note of that from now on. Thanks for the tip.

No problem. When poser has to build a .rsr from a .obj file, sometimes it mangles the .rsr

ScottA ( ) posted Sat, 29 April 2000 at 11:54 AM

Wow. I've never run into this problem before. How often does this happen to you guys? ScottA

Only these two items. They were both dl'd - Jaeger's adjustment to the mesh for Victoria and the tail from SphereBot. Unless it really calls for it I'll just dump any rsrs assotiated with obj's.

I had a problem once with something I downloaded, and have helped a few other people who emailed me. Its always the .rsr. once its deleted everything works :)

Actually, as I have just recently experienced, THIS kind of thing happens an awful LOT!!! FUN with Poser ;-)

Nance ( ) posted Sat, 29 April 2000 at 4:51 PM

I've had it happen, not infequently, but especially when I'm multitasking a bunch of other apps when the .rsr is building.

yep; the 'cant find obj file' 'out of memory!' schtick means 'your rsr is corrupt.' :)
