Hi... The earler post about the gorgeous Arwen face for V2... sparked me to create a face for V3... I started from scratch and this is just the very first early draft... I know i will never get her perfect, but i'm going for a resemblance or as close as i can get in poser... I would appreciate any constructive critisism :) -=SimderZ=- here she is

I'd make the lips just a TOUCH thinner... not quite so exxagerrated...

She'a very good start. Her head seems a little long & thin to me - but that could be because of the focal length of your camera. It would help the comparison if you used a similar color hair (similar to the movie character). Also, what does her profile look like? I'm glad to see you're making the V3 version. I'm the one person in this whole place that doesn't have a Vicky 2 or earlier. [grin]

I meant thinner as in top to bottom, not narrower left to right. ^_^

It's definately better. As far as the lips, on your model's lower lips, there appears to be darker areas on each side. I'm thinking that maybe her lip is 'pouted' forward (front to back along the z axis) a little too much and causing shadows. I'm not sure. I do know that when I watched the movie last Friday (my 4th time) I noticed that although Liv's lips were big on the y axis, in the profile shots they didn't look thick on the z axis. I don't know if your models' lips are thick or not but I figured I'd mention it. I know, I'm being hyper-picky. She looks great as is! I mentioned that because I don't know how far you want to take her. I wish I could get this close. Those gorgeous lips kinda make me wish I was virtual. And single.

Simderella, I hope you dont take this wrong, but Liv Tyler is a beautiful woman and your's well is little off.

Patricia ( ) posted Wed, 15 January 2003 at 12:09 AM

You're on the right track---don't get put off by nay-sayers! There are alot of us watching this thread with high hopes. Liv has an exceptionally difficult face to recreate, so go get some well-deserved sleep and dive back in tomorrow---this is worth waiting for! ;)

Barryw ( ) posted Wed, 15 January 2003 at 12:23 AM

Come on!! You want to know where she gets those lips?? Look at her dad!! Holy cow that guy has a Crest flip top head!! By the way I think all of your versions look pretty good. I would say that if you posted the picture untitled people would pretty much know immediately who it is. If you post the morph could you make the ears a seprate one??

Dizzie ( ) posted Wed, 15 January 2003 at 12:35 AM

I like version 3.....I couldn't get the morph for V2 to look like her but I'd rather work with V3 anyway....keep going! "Liv Tyler is a beautiful woman "...that's a matter of personal opinion and mine's that she's not particularly "beautiful"...but thank God she doesn't look like Dad....LOL...to each his own...

Crasher ( ) posted Wed, 15 January 2003 at 12:45 AM

Version 3, most definitely, looks more like Liv than any other pictures in this thread. Including Grey Cat's, though that's a beautiful face as well. It just doesn't look like Liv to me. I vote for the third one. ;)

Patricia ( ) posted Wed, 15 January 2003 at 1:10 AM

Just remembered something I noticed the other night while watching the DVD--Her upper lip sticks out a bit more than the lower one when you look at her in profile. Oddly, so does the upper lip on the Elf Witch (whatsername?? my memory is failing daily!). I remarked to my hubby that it was unusual, but never remembered to look up profile shots of both actresses to see if it was natural or 'just for the movie'. It tends to be seen on young children more than adults.

Try applying the V2 Morph to V3 and see what happens! Guess what! Many of the V2 faces actually work on V3 and require a little bit of tweaking to finalise the character. Regards STORM

hauksdottir ( ) posted Wed, 15 January 2003 at 3:39 AM

Simderella and Grey_Cat, Both of your approaches are good, but Liv's lower face isn't that gaunt and hollow under the cheekbones. It is really softer and fuller. The eyes are dark blue. I have the theatre standee from the first movie here in the computer room, and Arwen's head is lifesize on it. Carolly

Simderella ( ) posted Wed, 15 January 2003 at 6:08 AM

I will keep trying, but as you all know recreating a real person is very difficult, so we all my have to settle for an approximation.. By the way i'm not going for Liv Tyler in her normal state but as Arwen, so it'll be a mix of her and my view of Arwen. :) Sorry to say grey cat but was that supposed to be Liv tyler as Arwen...??? Or just a normal V3... i thought maybe u were being sarcastic... If thats not the case then sorry! Constructive critique is what i'm going for here. I'll do some pix of Arwen from different angle.... arghhh LOL..... Or I may just do Galadriel instead HAHAHA!!! Thanks once again for all you great idea's. HUGZ Remember i'm going for a resemblance not a clone... :) I know what you mean about her face been softer and i did do that but it stopped barring any resemblance at all.. Beacuse you can't just make the lower part of V3's face fuller.. I will keep going though. get some pix etc... I know this face will never please everyone as everyone interprets people in a different way. For me this is my version of Arwen and not Liv Tyler :) Back to the grind stone!!! Luv -=SimderZ=-

Hmm. Arwen's hair is dark in the movie... You know, your last image reminds me more of Angelina Jolie. I think it's the lips. :D Good so far though. :)

I got to look at this blind with no hints as to who she was, and I knew it was Liv right off the bat. Good likeness in my opinion! It is very hard to approximate a real person's likeness, and as we all have our own style in face shaping, that always comes into play as well. wink -Batty-

I like the final one Sim! Bravo!! I haven't played with V3 too much! It was difficult to create the Arwen in V2 and I would image it was extremely difficult in V3. I think you did very well with this one and I look forward to getting the V3 Morhph. Thanks!

Thanks alot, I know that it will never be perfect so i settled for in impression of her, most people can tell who it is.. and i'm happy with it... Some people however continue to point out to me she is no where near, and i see little pointin saying that.. we all have our own creative expression and this is mine... As Lord of The Rings (book) is very close to my heart, this is my vision of arwen, who has a touch of the 'Liv's' about her... ;) Thanks All -=SimderZ=-
