Subject: Best Eyes

sandoppe ( ) posted Fri, 17 January 2003 at 7:49 PM · edited Wed, 05 February 2025 at 1:44 AM

I'm looking to purchase the best and most realistic eyes for the most characters possible. I'm just about sold on DNA EYEZ, but thought I would try and get some opinions here. I have Blackhearts Blackeyes that come with Elowen and wish they could be used with Michael, Stephanie and, P4,etc., because they are absolutely wonderful! DNA EYEZ apparently have the flexibility I am looking for and the renders look good. Any thoughts from anyone??

I really like rDNA EyeZ, and they have add-on packages that are pretty good too. There's a fit for just about everyone with them. Another good set is the PoserStyle High Res Eyes. You can get them with a PoserStyle subscription, although they have a lite version in their freestuff to try. There's also Real Eyes by cake1. These are individual props for each eye. All of them are good, but I do prefer the rDNA EyeZ.

Thanks! You've confirmed my thinking about DNA EyeZ:)

I have the RDNA eyes and they are great not sure if you really need them with vic3 but they have a fit file for her also render beautifully.I like As Shanim eyes but they look less realistic in my opinion ...but they are only 10 bucks so I bought them...saw some renders of poserstyles eyes and they look great but didnt want to buy a subscription just for them.....use dna ones most though

I will probably use them mostly with Michael and Stephanie and possibly with P4 folks...when I use them. DNA is planning an update for P5 folks as well as for animals, etc. The price is not bad. For Victoria II, I will most likely continue to use Blackhearted's Black Eyes. They seem to work with any V2 characterization and they are very, very nice. I have V3, but have not installed her. I could not resist getting the base model upgrade for under $7 awhile back, plus a nice reduction on morphs, mats, etc. So for now....she remains uninstalled until I get more competent in Poser use or upgrade my computer :) I understand V3 is a load!

I think that RDNA Eyez are the best, just my opinion and from experience with most of the eye packages out. I like the fact that they are figures and not props, makes it much easier to work with. They have some nice morphs and with the add on packages and the presets they have in freestuff (thanks Judith) they cover just about any possibility I can think of. V3's eyes are very nice as they come in the package, but sometimes you just need something extra and that's when I pull out my Eyez from RDNA :) Pendy

Cake One's are beautiful. I use 'em with Curio's HiRes Textures on everyone except for the MilPreSchooler--one eyeball always ends up floating way up above the little one's head and won't 're-implant' right no matter what you do!

I checked out the Cake1 eyes at Daz. They look good, but are more expensive than the DNA eyes and similar (smart props) to the ones I got when I purchased Elowen from Blackhearted for $20 (which includes the great eyes, mats, a complete and beautiful hi res character, plus other neat stuff). DAZ creates some great products, but some of the prices, even at platinum membership prices, are.....well....too high :) There are some great buys here and at DNA.....and the quality of the majority of them is terrific as well. Glad to get all the comments....I'm off to buy the DNA Eyez :)

Looking for more stuff Joster? :) Well I'm a compulsive buyer myself and DNA is a great place with some great bargains and high quality. Here's the link: http://host1.bondware.com/~syydr/ There are some great folks there who really know their stuff. Enjoy!

I agree to the things said above, the DNA eyes are the best in my opinion. And there are several updates for new figures ( V3.....)

The best eyes? Well... Eyes that are different on each side (NOBODY has irises that are identical in both eyes). Even spinning the iris several degrees and/or flipping it would help. Eyes which don't have highlights already painted on them (NOTHING screams >>>fake<<< faster than highlights which don't match the light sources in the scene). I'm horrified at all the V3 renders I've seen lately with the highlights in the middle as though she is wearing a lightbulb on the end of her nose. Eyes which are more than simply color-shifting in Photoshop. If it is a different texture, then dammit, it ought to be a different texture, not color, TEXTURE. If you are going to fill up 20 or more slots in a Pose directory with your MATs, then you have an obligation to make good use of that space... even more so if the consumer has handed you money. So.....aside from "dial flipping" the eyes, which eyes in your opinion, meet the specifications you've outlined?
