Subject: MAT Pose Edit?

VampireWriter ( ) posted Thu, 23 January 2003 at 10:01 AM ยท edited Sun, 24 November 2024 at 4:56 PM

Since I don't have pro pack (is that what some people use to make mat files?) I figured I'd try out the free Mat Pose Edit utility in freestuff. So far I love it, but I have one little problem. When I make a mat pose for Vicky, when I apply it all is well except for the eyebrows. No matter how many times I set the transparency in the editor and resave, the brows show up as not transparent...two giant blobs of color on her face. What am I doing wrong? I'm sure it's just some obvious setting under my nose, but could someone point it out? Thanks in advance for any help.

are you setting the transparency and hitting apply? orrrrrrrrrrr.. S making sure you are setting it for the upperEyebrows not the Eyebrows?

May be you are using a Vicky face where eyebrows are hidden by a morph dial, and not by a transparency map. This could explain why your MAT poses don't hide them. Just a suggestion. Compiler

Well actually, what I did (awhile back) was load Vicky, change all her body colors to white for easier texture application, and resave her. Maybe I should do the same thing, but set the eyebrows to transparent before resaving her. I just thought the mat pose was supposed to apply the transparency too, not just the transparency map. It's worth a try I suppose.

Uhoh, maybe I'm dumb, but it seems to me that you want a MAT Pose to make Vicky all white, and wonder why her eyebrows are not correct?! Maybe I'm not seeing things correctly?! You might want to spend some time at Ron Knights' web site. He helps newbies, and has good tutorials on MAT Pose Edit and Vicky & Mike's texture settings.

It's worth a visit to his site, but no, I'm not looking for white-out MATs...what I am doing is reorganizing my entire library through a complete re-install, and instead of fumbling around and trying to recall which folder my textures are saved in, I'm creating MAT poses for all textures. My only difficulty is that the eyebrows do not go transparent for the transparency map to work, and I have to go to the materials tab and reset it after the texture is loaded. I guess if it never works, that's a small price to pay to have my library in some semblance of order LOL. Thanks for the comments!

Unfortunately, Ron Knights site may be down eventually. I visited just now, and there is a bandwidth exceeded message. This guy has had lots of problems in the Poser community, and still kept the site alive to provide tutorials. Now the web host will likely demand a higher fee to pay for increased bandwidth to provide a free service to web communities that have already banished him. Sometimes you just got to know when to quit.

Brows or upper brows?

Unfortunately, I don't have Vicky up at the moment, little disk crash, so I can't look at it. As I remember, I think the MATS produced do maintain the trans settings but maybe not. Not hitting apply and the brows gone morph are the only things I can think of off hand.
