Especially the way Bush has pretty muched trashed the US's credibility with the rest of the world, such an order from a US court is more likely to be met with derision than compliance.

No, a space hip. It's a large pelvis that travels through space... and time.

wow, thats lotta feedback, eh? we down there in canada don't hav to worry bout that much, eh? all 100 of us down south o' the border are just worried bout the music industry, eh? now they're seriously considerin music bein protected from even workin on a computer properly, eh? kinda makes u wanna abandon america, eh? yes that was just a load of BS, but it's fun encouraging steriotypes.... i stopped readin the posts round bout the 20th post, but wut wdupre sed bout guns.... they should be allowed!?!?! look at canada, sure our economies fallin, but image is everythin, and while most americans (apparantly) think that its always freezin here, we say eh every second word(if u dont like that, just dont go near saskachewan), most Canadians think americans hav a serious gun addiction. now, moving back on topic... i mostly use hotline, not kazaa, for downloading 1 or 2 sample songs to decide if i want to buy their album, and wut im seeing is that 75% of the file-sharing community is european. somehow i dont think the crackin down of pirating software in the US is going to hav much impact on the community.

Let's take a step back and consider this point: {Yup, the Sup Ct decides what you can and cannot do based on your Constitutional rights, and guess what, here's the rub... not one of you ever voted for a sup ct judge. But I digress.} Now, suppose the RIAA/ MPAA/ whomever decides tracks some "illegal" music to your IP address. They change you with pirating and copyright violations. Now, lets assume that they want to press full criminal charges against you. You can stand on your "moral ground" of "I was only sharing" all you want. But, remember, YOU have to come up with an attorney to defend against these charges. And if you're going up againt the RIAA or MPAA and facing criminal charges, how quickly so you think the legal bills will pile up... especially when most decent attorneys charge $200+ an hour. You may be found "not guilty" (eventually) or the judge may rule that their case is too broad, but how much will you have spent by then? $5,000, $10,000, or more? Is that MP3 or Poser file really worth it? You think that it won't happen to you? Well, the more you're on Kazaa, the more likely it is that someone will get your IP address... and the more likely they'll want to "make an example" of someone.

BeatYourSoul hit the nail on the head....... Rights? You think you have rights? With the Millenium Act and other newly added "laws", if the government suspects that you are a terrorist or supporting terrorism or perform anything else covered in the MA, you can be arrested, incarcerated, and held without representation or trial for as long as the government sees fit. You are a non-person without any rights whatsoever. Quite frankly it's beginning to make McCarthy-ism look rather tame.... So much for land of the free...please don't lose sight of that laudable aim, because of knee-jerk reaction to atrocity, and the power-hunger of certain powerful cliques. If Bush-Ashcroft-Republican Congress have their way, we'll be a theocratic dictatorship in no time flat. Canada is looking really good these days, as much as I despise cold weather. nuff said Beat....example...Iraq has only one real political party, which is only one less than the US (I know there are more, but really, worth what?)....and if we want to start whining about compliance with UN resolutions, ..........um............242 mean anything? I'm sorry, but this self-righteous bull about this being a war on terror is starting to wear a bit thin. And, at the risk of sounding anti-semetic, has anyone heard of the theory that the abused become abusers in later life. For the record, i'm not anti-anyone, i just think religion is anachronistic bullshit, and should be consigned to the dustbin of history where it belongs. Now, if you'll excuse me, i'm off to get a heat resistant suit......
