Subject: Dodger RMP stuff prices bottom out!

_dodger ( ) posted Sat, 25 January 2003 at 8:24 PM · edited Mon, 10 February 2025 at 4:18 PM

Just want to let everyone know, an hour or two ago I had Clint drop all of the items in my store to $8.33 (except my RealBrushes which are only $5 anyway) I also have a sale starting tomorrow for 30% off, so they all go down to $5.83 @ -- the sale lasts until an imaginary date (Feb 29th, 2003) -- if the code means that's forever, it will last forever. If not, it will be over on March 31st. I'll let it go either way. This applies to: Mike's Biker Jacket Mike's Hooded Cowl Fighting Man Mike Elf Mage Vicki Fighting Man Mike Elf Mage Vicki

That was goofy. The end was supposed to be 'Scarecrow'

She's on sale super cheap

And he is, too.

And this dealy-bobber

and him too!

And when I finish this guy, he's going to be $5, fully posable original figure with blinking lights (I'm not even going to bother submitting him to DAZ because while he will certainly be DAZ quality, they already have Droid)

This is how far I've gotten so far. Well, actually a little farther but I didn't render before saving. I have the neck down to the base done (this is a MAX render but with settings set to simulate Poser 4 settings -- no raytrace materials, all objects with autosmooth at 180, no indirect, falloff maps on transparents, force 2-sided)

_dodger ( ) posted Sat, 25 January 2003 at 8:51 PM

And why? 'Cause I love you guys.

_dodger ( ) posted Sat, 25 January 2003 at 8:53 PM

Now I'm going to put on a plaid yellow suit and make a commercial that says 'Dodger has gone Craaazy!! These prices are IN-Sane!'

_dodger ( ) posted Sat, 25 January 2003 at 9:27 PM

I want to apologise to anyone who bought things before the price drop. However, I do have to point out that you got it sooner. B^)

lalverson ( ) posted Sat, 25 January 2003 at 11:20 PM

I gotta warm up the CC for this bot when it's done I'm gonna need it.

pdxjims ( ) posted Sat, 25 January 2003 at 11:38 PM

Yikes! I'm getting the Scarecrow, the cowl, and the fighting man. Already got the jacket. Thanks bud!

MachineClaw ( ) posted Sun, 26 January 2003 at 12:22 AM

Could the robot have 2 hands? The blaster hand/arm is cool, but a 2 fisted droid would be better for me. just a request. fantastic sale, I think my HD is gunna be full this week and the eating light. god I hope I have enough pasta til next payday! hahahaha!

Staby ( ) posted Sun, 26 January 2003 at 3:49 AM

I love it! This looks like it is going to be a great product. May I suggest like MachineClaw to give it two hands and add/change the blaster as a smart prop? Also, if you are not too further in development, could you project it to be customisable/expandable so you and other could add more accessories and props later? I would love a simple version without the add on too, like a robotic skeleton or half built robot. I think that this way it could became a hot seller. BTW call it The Ultimate Robot and DAZ will accept it :) I will buy it anyway... I can't say no to that price :)

_dodger ( ) posted Sun, 26 January 2003 at 7:38 AM

MachineClaw: That's a hand port beneath the blaster, for a precision hand. Though I may just give it an altGeom dial.

Redfern ( ) posted Sun, 26 January 2003 at 8:39 AM

I will most definitely purchase that robot! I assume you've set aside your project to adapt famous media robots in favor of an original concept? If so, you've certainly produced a photogenic design! Staby, should Dodger opt for a complete body, you can always click on the properties of a specific body part and render it unvisible. Simply "cloak" the limbs and suddenly you'll have a half completed chais sitting on the assembly line or smashed into the rubble of a battlefield. Plus you can parent a prop to a particular body part, such as a mech claw to the blaster forearm. Just a thought. Sincerely, Bill

Tempt the Hand of Fate and it'll give you the "finger"!

Redfern ( ) posted Sun, 26 January 2003 at 8:41 AM

Argh! That should read "invisible!" Just proves why I nearly failed typing. Sincerely, Bill

Tempt the Hand of Fate and it'll give you the "finger"!

Redfern ( ) posted Sun, 26 January 2003 at 8:48 AM

Crap! And another should read as "chassis!" Sincerely, Bill

Thanks for the cmopliments, all! And some excellent ideas!

Goe a new render. Allow me to state that this robot's torso is one of the most complicated shapes I've ever made, despite appearances. That's just one strange shape and it doesn't easily come out fothe shape for any primitive. I patch modelled it from raw patches, extruded and seperated the middle, converted both to an editable poly, removed redundant bits and hand-optimised them, clone the one side over and welded both sides to the middle strip. Yeaghghgh!

_dodger ( ) posted Sun, 26 January 2003 at 12:54 PM

Thank goodness the hard parts are done B^)

MachineClaw ( ) posted Sun, 26 January 2003 at 2:52 PM

getting there! when your finished it will be a welcome addition to the poser library. need more sci-fi stuff, with the plethera of fantasy stuff out there I think your robot is gunna be a big hit!

THAT ROBOT TOTALLY ROCKS!!! Ahem . . . sorry for that outburst. I have been moving all weekend (still in Santa Cruz) and this is the coolest thing I've seen since I've been able to get back on the internet. Ditto on the request that he can have a left hand in addition to the blaster. Dodger, you da man! Jay

GraphicFoxx ( ) posted Mon, 27 January 2003 at 2:50 PM

Very nice work dodger! Time to finish up my dodger product collection. hehe. And that robot is killer. I'll definitely buy that guy when he comes out.
