Maybe. We lost our Proxy (which connects to UUNet, by default). UUNet was hit severely, as you can see at the link above. I had to power of the server an restart it. WillyI had no problems yesterday (Saturday)....except for some of those little errors noted by some of you. Today (Sunday) it is down all around. Sent them an email, but I suspect they already know. Poser World had a problem yesterday (installed a Microsoft security patch and had problems on their subscription server). The behavior at DAZ looks like the worm got 'em!
I guess I got pretty lucky. Finished buying some stuff late Friday night (actually, around 30 minutes after midnight). After all my downloads were done, I couldn't get to any sites after that but my mail would run. Hey, martian, dontcha like the Triggerfish and the Lion fish? Or do you already have them?
:) I'm sure the site will be up when they get in tomorrow. Some fish went into the Platinum CLub to cross promote the Mermaid and the Aquatica Reef. The remaining sea items will not be going there.

I doubt the worm affected Daz because during the DDOS attack, Daz remained up.. I was downloading new purchases from there all night. And all the things that the worm may have crippled are pretty much up and running since yesterday afternoon. See attached link to CNN for details.if you have a firewall, use it. my firewall has goten an unbeleivable amount of pings and using ip-tracker, they are from around the world. even if you have sql server 2000 patched, you will still continue to receive ping-attacks from as many sources to as many ports. Once the worm gets control on the target computer it loads WS2_32.DLL and starts to continually send itself to port 1434/udp of a randomly selected IP targets in an infinite loop. The IP of a victim is constructed using 'GetTickCount' API and is purely random. This propagation strategy consumes a lot of network bandwith because the vast majority of requests go to the Internet. The worm exists only in memory and does not modify any local files.
I also get quite a lot of some kind of virus or something somewhere from China lately. Looks like deliberate attempts, they all come with very different mails. Hmm, possibly it's the Slammer, because the AV doesn't say anything. And I won't even mention various attempts to break into my comp.

no.. not quite... its a necissary windows file. The major task of the data transport portion of the Ws2_32.DLL is to serve as a sort of traffic manager between service providers and applications. Consider several different service providers interacting with the same application. Each service provider interacts strictly with the Ws2_32.DLL. the problem here is, the Ws2_32.DLL has no knowledge about how requests to service providers are realized; this is up to the service provider implementation. so when the Ws2_32.DLL passes the transport service provider's socket descriptor on up to the Windows Sockets application, the applications are free to take advantage of socket descriptors that the file system handles, if they so choose. like ping-attacks and such... at least thats my understanding of how its relating here...

I get: "Database error: pconnect(db.daz3d.com, store, $Password) failed. MySQL Error: () Session halted." ...when clicking on any of the stores. Don't seem to have problems at my other usual hangouts. Wondering if it's me.
